Guess the "Historic" House?

This house was in the Windover Heights Historic District when it was created in 1979. It was torn down and a new house was built in its place. Here are (2) pictures of the structure that was demolished:

Why is there no mention of this house in Vienna's history?

Let's take the guessing game a step further. Here are two groups of houses.

Group 1: House 1, House 2, House 3, House 4, House 5, House 6, House 7, House 8
Group 2: House 1, House 2, House 3, House 4, House 5, House 6, House 7, House 8

Can you guess which group is in the historic district? Group 1 houses are NOT in the Historic District. All houses in Group 2 are in the Windover Heights Historic District.

Comments

I just came across this site via washpost. I grew up in Vienna (Bowling Green Dr, Beulah Rd, Red Rock Ct; 1968-1990).

All the houses in group 1 look like completely new construction so I wouldn't expect them to be part of a historic district though they might be new construction on the site of formerly historic homes. I wouldn't consider any of the houses in group 2 to be historic either - mostly 60s, 70s and 80s houses. Most of the historic houses were torn down in the 80s and 90s. I remember the house at Beulah and Creek Crossing. Or the one at Beulah and Meadowlark - and the stuff that the crazy lady would dump in the road.

I'm missing the point of the post. Are you suggesting that the houses in group 1 should be considered part of the historic district? Or that 80s colonials shouldn't be?

1980's houses shouldn't be considered historic...
