Mike Colbert Gets Nasty, Lashes Out

Some Vienna Pit-bulls Could Use a Muzzle
The Vienna power brokers love to bark that this web site, which is mostly a mirror of the factual words and actions of Vienna leaders, is "nasty". Well, as they say, no one ever kicks a dead dog!
We know that some Vienna politicians revealed for what they are will continue to lash out. On the subject of nasty and lashing out, Mike Colbert (Jane Seeman's son-in-law) offered this heartfelt piece of advice to one of the challengers right before the 2006 Vienna Election:
"First off, I congratulate you on running for Town Council. It is a big commitment of time and can bring much criticism your way. I hope you are up for it. Now, with regards to your comments about the Town Green. Whether you agree with it or not, Vienna is not authorized by the state to place referendums on the ballot. Before you go mouthing off, you should get your facts straight. If you do happen to get elected I hope you will do a little more homework before embarassing [sic] the town by suggesting something that is illegal. Thanks and good luck. Mike Colbert"
Is Mike Colbert Mayor Seeman's political pit-bull?
This was not a confident email was it? What was he worried about? We find the comments of Mike Colbert an instructive tool in understanding the "minds" controlling the power reigns in Vienna. Sure the 2006 election might have gone the incumbent way, but tectonic plates are clearly shifting in ways they can't control.

Comments
Hilarious... the Mayor's son-in-law who runs his business out of his Bukont-built house defending the Town Green gift to Polychrone's and Seeman's otherwise paved-over Vienna Presbyterian Church. And the circle, it goes round-and-round...

I do regret my choice of words as I really meant no harm and actually like [...]. I was sincere in my congratulations to [...] for running. I guess the email came across sarcastic because of a poor choice of words. It is very easy to be terse behind the keyboard. Of course I support my mother-in-law as I have always found her honest, forthright, full of common sense, and interested in the best for Vienna. I didn't, in fact, make any comments pro or con about the Town Green. I was merely pointing out that we cannot go suggesting things that aren't legal. I have no affiliation to any of the candidates other than the Mayor, although I applaud and admire their civic service. Finally, I was not put up to posting by any of the candidates. I was doing my homework before the election and was motivated by some of [...] comments. I hardly think I was being a "pit bull." I was maybe a bit rude. I must admit I let the negative tone of your website influence my choice of words.

"the Town Green gift to Polychrone's and Seeman's otherwise paved-over Vienna Presbyterian Church." What does this mean? The members I am aware of at VPC are Seeman and Cole. And my little fly on the wall tells me that Cole may need to be a little more open in regards to what the church's activities have been in the recent past. But what does that matter, the average Joe in Vienna really doesn't matter, now does it?

I think it means that at least 3 Town Council members... Polychrones, Seeman, and Cole... voted $5m of your tax dollars to convert a prime Maple Avenue commercial site into a lawn in front of their parking space starved church. That church is going to look GOOD with that new front lawn and will enjoy less competition for parking. The Town squanders all future business revenue for an indefinite lawn maintenance expense. Meanwhile, Seeman is still on the hunt for more parking spaces around her church... I mean Town Green. Just wait and see whose activities overflow Mill Street into your Town Green. And what exactly was their business development argument for the Town Green? And whose idea was it?
