Mayor Jane Seeman: Dodge and Weave
Jane Seeman Can't Figure Out What the Big Deal Is
The Mayor of Vienna Jane Seeman was asked May 22, 2006 at the Vienna Town Council meeting WHY SHE POSTS to her son's now infamous 'hate' blog. Watch her refusal to answer:

Comments
The Mayor REALLY doesn't understand why it is wrong to post to a political 'hate' blog run by her son? Or does she just believe no one will ever care or investigate? And let me get this straight: the Mayor posts comments to a politically extreme web site and THAT is her PERSONAL business open to NO scrutiny?

OK, Mayor Seeman, you won't comment on your participation on your family's hateful bigoted rightwing conservative evangelical blog... that's understandable. How about commenting on the Town's sidewalks...
Vienna has been around a long, long time and it still doesn't have a decent network of sidewalks. Sidewalks around Vienna are non-existent, incomplete, poorly planned, and frequently composed of rippling black asphalt... except, of course, in front of Town Hall where you have new concrete walks with inlaid brick borders. The Town's Parks and Recreation Department can publish a whole season of basket weaving classes and gambling trips to New Jersy but our Public Works Department can't build sidewalks!
Take a look at Tapawingo between Park and Glyndon... all of the existing sidewalk along Tapawingo is on the same side, yet when the Town installed sidewalk on this block recently, they put it on the opposite side! (Twice, actually, since Sagres screwed up the first installation!) Why??? Now pedestrians are expected to crossover Tapawingo twice just to continue walking on the sidewalk... even the buss stop at Park is on the side of the existing sidewalk. Why is the Town so stupid under your leadership?
Take a look at Windover Avenue enroute to Madison High School... our children living in the historic district have to walk in the street to reach James Madison Drive. Year after year, the Town of Vienna under your leadership expects our pedestrian students to share this heavily traveled roadway with school busses, parents, teachers, and young drivers rushing to and from Madison High School in this highly congested area. This is so unbelievable! Get off your A** and connect the sidewalks at the corner of Windover and Nutley!
Instead of spending $5m of our tax dollars to give your church a front lawn for prancing around on Sunday mornings, you should spend that mony to give Town residents safe and practical sidewalks. How long have you gotten away with taking money in escrow for sidewalks that NEVER GET BUILT? This is a ridiculous practice that got started a long time ago and you have failed to stop it. The outcome of this diversion of funds is obvious... just look at all of the ridiculous sidewalk problems around Town. Park Street with its disfigured asphalt path is an eyesore, a pedestrian hazard, and an embarassment for all to see on this major Town throughway.
Vienna is a small town by boundary but it is full of people living in a heavily populated area. It's time to stop using small town as an excuse for failing to plan for and meet the basic needs of our community. Small town shouldn't mean you take our money and spend it on your pet projects while we have to walk through our neighborhoods in the street with commuter traffic. Your son's point on small town politics actually puts the finger on the problem. Small town politics aren't good enough in this metropolitan region, Mayor Seeman! Spend less time glad-handing awards to each other in Council chambers and more time getting the hard work done. You are elected as our citizen representatives to organize Town government to meet our needs, but instead, you are your own little inside group with your own agenda... once elected, we never hear from you again as you go off doing whatever you want. Get back to working on the people's business... I don't recall anybody wishing for a Town Green!
And to all of you lurking out there, we all agree that we want to keep the town in Town of Vienna. This is about making Vienna a better town, not a lessor town.

Hey Convenient Tom... we are going to protest your mom's green space gift to Vienna Presbyterian Church at the opening ceremonies... bring your poster board and colored markers (yes, you can bring your white only markers... but then your poster board will have to be black... is that a problem, Tom?)... we'll have some fun with those "hopelessly left-wing Presbyterians"!

Yes, sidewalks!
But I could hardly believe my eyes when Seeman stated on her son's website that Town residents only give a damn about trash pickup and the like. You Mayor are the worst form of politician. You are in this just for the free ride and the apparent glory.
