The Sun Gazette: Bank Robberies Are 'Par for the Course'
A resident who was concerned about bank robberies wrote to the Sun Gazette Newspaper and received this out of touch response:
I'm not sure if there is a trend here -- six bank robberies in 12 months in a jurisdiction the size of Vienna may just be par for the course. That's where the money is , so that's where robberies tend to occur. But I will ask our staff to see if, statistically, that many robberies is off the charts. Thanks again for the feedback. -- Scott McCaffrey
6 bank robberies in the last year and 7 in the prior 5 years. We wonder if the "stats guys" at the Sun Gazettee will be able to deduce any trend there? And we wonder when he talks about the "money", if he means Maud?

"Par for the Course?"
Funny that the Connection papers just reported that there is a rise of bank robberies in Fairfax County. Scott must be eating the "denial sandwiches" that Jane and Maud are whipping up in the kitchen at Town Hall.
And, just to get my math straight, does this mean that of the 23 bank robberies in the county this year, FIVE are in Vienna?! Does that mean a quarter of all bank robberies are in Vienna?! WHOA, Nelly!
Bank Robbery Trend Continues
The number of bank robberies so far this year in Fairfax County has climbed to the highest point in recent memory.
A bank heist last Wednesday pushed the county's total number of bank hold-ups to 23 — well beyond last year's total of 18 bank robberies, even though we’re only a little more than half way through 2006.
Last week's robbery took place at 2 p.m. at a BB&T Bank located in the 7700 block of Telegraph Road in Hayfield.
Fairfax County police said they are puzzled by spike in bank robberies, but are implementing enforcement strategies to deal with the trend.

Regarding Holmes' post: I agree... when you see less "real investment" in the Town and therefore less of a substantial commercial base to bring in needed revenue, who ends up paying for it in the end? Ordinary citizens, that's who! Wake up, Vienna!
