Technically trucks parked on this commerical property may be in violation. The law says all business activities must be conducted within the confines of the building. But parking?
Also, it is better to have them there than on the narrow streets without curbs.
And why care, the neighbors and the town do not, they let it happen.
The town had several options and opportunities to resolve this matter, i.e. change the zoning or purchase it for a park.
Enough!

Can't read the company name from the photo but these look like the exact same vehicles that were stored for months in a "tore down" vacant lot on Moore St. Complaints to town hall finally ran them off. Another fine example of developers blatant disregard for ordinary citizens.

Bukont has a home business license for his construction companies. This license does not permit him to operate a construction equipment property yard in our residential neighborhood. Property yard activities starting before 7:00AM and extending after 7:00PM are a noisey nuisance in a residential neighborhood... trailers clanging, diesel engines warming up, etc. The Town allows Bukont to violate his license because he has built houses for many within the Town including Mayor Seeman's daughter (also home improvement projects for the Mayor) and Coucilwomen Cole and Keller. One view is that Bukont is doing good so let him do what he wants. How very convenient... laws when you feel like it. The issues remain... violation of the law intended to protect our residential neighborhood from commercial activity, blatant conflicts of interest within Town government, and a failure to enforce the law equitably. People protest but the Town does nothing. In fact, they tell Bukont who complains so he can then oppose them. And now he doesn't even have to show up for Town meetings; Town staff present his business on his behalf. Technically, this is wrong and Town government is corrupt. How about the Town allow Bukont to park his constuction equipment in the Town Hall parking lot, or in that big empty lot next to Maud Robinson's house... it's just home business parking? Or perhaps cheapo builder Bukont should go rent some property yard space in a commercial zone... and move his construction companies out of our backyards!

Good evening "Enough" -
You apparently don't care much for SB, and you may not care much for me either.
I'll give you a little gentile lesson in the law, as it currently stands.
The PROPERTY in question IS ZONED COMMERCIAL (for now).
Therefore - SB, (or whomever) owns it DOES have a legal RIGHT to park there, accept and store materials...whatever....Fact is IT IS A COMMERCIAL LOT, so YES, the owner (and that WOULD BE SB)can do exactly what he is doing - Not running afoul of zoning. NOTHING TO SEE HERE...
I am not one to "defend" my competitor - but neither am I one to deny ANY citizen their right.
TRUE - Construction should not begin in FfxCo prior to 7:00 am, nor progress beyond 7:00 pm. If this is an issue, you may report such to the County.
Not a sermon - Just a thought.

But of course you won't defend the rights of those getting screwed in the historic district will you? Their rights are not so important? If you defend those rights, you run afoul of Maudie. People really do see your "choices" here DB, you are not that clever...
Posted by: Inconsistent | October 4, 2006 09:53 PM
Of course, I will defend your rights if they have been offended. You rights are very important. Vital even.
But I will not run afoul of elected officials. I will defend you (and I DO) within the Law...
Keep in Mind, "Inconsistent",
"Majority Rules, and Losers are Fools"
Tough political lesson, but one that is important if your point is to be heard (and applied)

Sounds like a justification the South used to keep slaves. Or the Nazis to imprison Jews...etc. Minority rights in this country mean something. Just because there is a whipped up (and very ignorant) mob, doesn't mean they are right. I am amazed at how clever you see yourself. You don't defend the rights of those in the historic district like you just did for SB's 'issue' - that was a point you missed.

Let me repeat.
Of course, I will defend your rights if they have been offended.
Your rights are important. Vital enven.
But I WILL NOT nor CAN NOT run afoul of elected officials.
One has to know how to properly move forward in the Game. All will settle within its Time...DB

DB: Read the Town's home business license ordinance and then tell me if Bukont's home business can establish a parking lot for his construction equipment on any lot in the neighborhood.

So basic 'rights' are now a game to DB?
What do you mean by running afoul of elected officials? Can you explain? As of the last few weeks you have run afoul as far as we can tell...of two sitting County Supervisors, right? You placed ads in papers? You were quoted everywhere that they were not fair or open. You have declared you are running against them even! But for whatever reason, you rollover on certain Vienna issues and retort "no comment"...bizarre inconsistency. The more you explain and the more you leave out, the more you paint a picture of something to hide.
Posted by: Inconsistent | October 5, 2006 08:26 AM
No, basic rights are not a game. That is NOT what I said or implied. Politics, however, are a "Game" of sorts, and timing is a big part of it.
I don't think I have "rolled over" and retorted "No Comment" on Vienna Issues. I personally do not see the validity of the Historical Overlay District, and I encourage those involved in the lawsuit to bring their issue into court.
What I will not do is name-call or personally attack an individual on a public website.
And I could be wrong, but I DO think that since that lot is currently zoned commercial, that yes, those trucks are allowed to park there.

Well, this comment is from you and it was found on a public website:
Were your ads in PUBLIC newspapers attacks on County politicians? Or are you now denying that?
Better yet, why are you not on the ARB still? Why no honest accounting there? Why no outrage as to what the Board you resigned from does to Vienna business owners?
Of course, you still never addressed this comment either:

What I will not do is name -call or personally attack an individual on a public website. The quote from August 18th does not name-call or personally attack any individual.
As for the ads - You should know my MO by now - The smaller ads that ran first "Fairfax County Tramples Citizens Rights" were ours. They were signed JP and Deborah Brehony.
The larger, red and black ads were not ours.
You should know by now that if I can't sign my name to something, then it isn't mine.
Not Anonymous.

Whoa, you don't defend the host and you're compared to a Nazi and a slave owner. DB you seem intelligent and have good intentions - not sure why you continue to try to debate on this site with someone who freaks out and attacks you if you don't agree with or fight, opinions, approach, etc. You should spend your time doing something more constructive as you can't win on this site. By the way, if we've all been so horribly abused & trampled in Vienna, shouldn't we have more protestors other than the same 3-4 contributors on this site?

Excellent point. Thank you for your conclusions...DUH.(No sarcasm here - you have exactly made the point I was trying to make.....er - Thanks! :-) DB

Corrupt organizations and corrupt people ('Blown a Gasket') always go down in a blaze of glory, screaching about how the majority is always right...right before they are exposed as cons. Lots of patience here...

Okay, so your rants and attacks are all justified. Yes there are corrupt folks on the council, yes the historic district isn't historic and Maud is the "Boss Hog" of Vienna. Yes Bukont used a curse word (gasp). Some of us are sheep. All that being said I admit that I do love the new look of Church Street (Bukont) bldgs (the custard shop & Bazin's are great), am happy that the Town Green will be available for the 4th of July and Viva Vienna (beats sitting on the bikepath), love the new and improved C. Chase Bank and am glad that ugly 7-Eleven bldg is finally being replaced. There, I said it (Baaa)!
