Maud Robinson Wants the HUD Money, Just NO Minorities!
From this week's Sun Gazette about Maud's big earmark:
Council members accepted a $198,000 economic-development-initiative grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), which will be applied toward the new Vienna Town Green. The grant, obtained by U.S. Rep. Thomas Davis (R-11th), will be spent on landscaping work toward the end of the project, said Cathy Salgado, Vienna parks and recreation director. Council member Maud Robinson received assurances from Town Attorney Steven Briglia that accepting the grant would not oblige the town to participate in any of that federal agency's other programs. “You know I always get a little edgy when I hear the word ‘HUD' mentioned,” she said.
HUD causes her to be edgy? What is HUD's mission? From their web site:
HUD's mission is to increase homeownership, support community development and increase access to affordable housing free from discrimination. To fulfill this mission, HUD will embrace high standards of ethics, management and accountability and forge new partnerships--particularly with faith-based and community organizations--that leverage resources and improve HUD's ability to be effective on the community level.
Isn't this special? Maud gets a big piece of pork from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for her Town Green, but then in the next breath clearly implies she wants no strings attached to her early Christmas present. Said another way, "No Diversity, No Affirmative Action...Therefore No blacks."
Who else could get away with this without being called a racist? When does Vienna stop making excuses for Robinson? These kinds of statements (and actions) make us all look like intolerant red necks. How much more of her foot can she cram in her mouth?
Maud is this the kind of sign you want in Vienna?
Most politicians in Robinson's position would have kept their pie hole shut and taken the pork. Robinson took the money, but only after sinking down low. She is one of a kind.

You all are being way too unfair with such a racist comment. I will not just sit back and let this site get away with that. I am going to contact the NAACP and the ALCU and let them know how much you are all distorting the truth. I am aghast!
You cannot just say this, when we all know full and well that Maud has in no way a single bigoted bone in her body, and I will get on the phone and let her know that I support her treatment of African Americans, especially when I see her putting George Lovelace in what she thinks is his "station/position." She has shown Vienna, time and time again, how to treat African Americans in her browbeating "know your place" statements made towards Lovelace during the Council Meetings and her more hateful and voracious attacks when she thinks no-one is watching.
So by her example, she is representing most of Vienna's citizens...?
I THINK NOT!
And to think, there are bigots who continue to support her and vote her in office. Those are the people who are really bad, they know how bigoted Maud is, and they continue to support her racist behavior towards African American citizens in Vienna Politics.
MAUD MUST GO.

I can't wait to see this shit on Vienna Cable... it will be better than most of the crap we see on the Telly. I hope someone gets on the ball and gets the station up soon.

I am disgusted that our "wealthy" community needs to take money for park decorations while their are honest hard, working Americans who may need HUD's assistance. Tsk, Tsk, Tsk on you Maud & Tom Davis!

I have been thinking about putting a little herb garden in my back yard... will Tom Davis or his wife, Jeannemarie Devolites Davis, give me a couple of grand if I promise to say a few good words about Virginia's history?
In terms of Maud, her actions are basically saying Vienna is for 'Whites Only'. You may as well get out the sheets.
