Why Did the Mayor of Vienna Lie? Here Is One Citizen's Excuse

Isn't it possible the mayor receives a number of letters every day, and when she received your request for a copy of this particular letter she made an assumption that it was only directed to her? Maybe this is a stretch but I'm willing to give our mayor the benefit of the doubt on this. As you say, why lie about something so trivial? She may be guilty of making a poor assumption. I’d like to think she isn’t going out of her way to lie about something which you were able to acquire on your own.
The only trivial part of Seeman's video response is the part she decided to lie about, but the letter is by no means trivial.
In fact, this very non-personal letter, sent on legal letterhead, was from one of the most influential Vienna citizens of the last 30 years. He has been a close friend of Maud's for decades. The motivation for hiding the letter? The letter struck right at the recently passed Maple Avenue redevelopment plan passed by Council. The author of the letter was specifically left out of Town redevelopment plans after being led to believe he would be included for 3 years.
For the criticism to come from this man was no small matter for Seeman. Read between the lines and it is clear litigation is on the way.
Additionally, Seeman's letter had all the CC's in plain view. To make the assumption it was only for her doesn't pass the smell test. You think the Council did not discuss the letter the moment they all received it? Give us a break. Once citizens found out that the CC's were on the letter the Town rolled over and provided a copy. Obviously, it was an organized game by Seeman.
Now that you know more, it will be interesting to see if you continue to make inane excuses for a Mayor caught in the act of lying through her teeth.

Listen carefully to the video. She first stated the letter was intended to be for her because is was addressed to her. Then when it was clear that she was caught in her first lie about the presence of the long and clear "CC list" which was in plain view under Mr. Sloan's signature (there are eight, count em, eight names on the CC list), she made some noise about it wasn't on her copy. Then when she was caught in that lie (the lie being she tried to get us to swallow that there were two different versions of the letter floating around, which she knew was a lie) then she lied and stated she just happened not to have read the "whole last page!"
Ridiculous. A bald faced lie. No Council person OR MAYOR should be allowed to get away with this and no amount of spin control from her RED HUNTER son will keep her out of the heat this time!

Even if you don't buy the arguments already posted on this site about Jane's out and out lies regarding whether she really read the last page, or whether there really were two versions of the letter floating around (both of which are lies), look carefully at the first and last pages:
FACT ONE: the letter was not a personal letter from Mr. Sloan. In fact, this letter was sent from a law office, the "Law Offices of Sloan and Swedish".
FACT TWO: the letter was closed with the Name from that same law office, "SLOAN & SWEDISH".
When a letter is received from a business, and in this case, a law office, and is sent to the TOV Mayor, and CC's to the entire Council and Town attorney, there is a good reason it was done this way. This letter was not merely sent by Mr. Sloan, a friend and citizen of Vienna, rather, it was sent as a legal challenge and petition to the whole TOV from the Law Offices of Sloan and Swedish.
The letter was NEVER intended to be merely a personal letter and Jane's insistence to lie about this is very telling about how far the TOV will go to hide things. This is not the way an elected official is supposed to behave.

I understand the reluctance of the person posting to believe that that "nice lady" could be so calculating. It took me awhile too. Who wants to believe that these are the people running this Town, the leaders. I didn't want to believe it either, but they are. The sooner we all wake up, the better of Vienna will be.

GEEZ LOUISE! HAS ANYONE ELSE NOTICED HOW THE RESPECTIVE NOSES OF SOME COUNCIL MEMBERS HAVE GROWN SUBSTANTIALLY OVER THE YEARS?
