Tysons Land Use Task Force. What About Vienna?
The Tysons Land Use Task Force is a good example of proper "planning." At least, regardless of how they go, there will be intelligent debate and discussion. Vienna's planning? Maud just says the center of Town is the Town Green and that's it. No study of anything. Just an 85-year old woman making multi-million dollar monuments to herself and then calling it "planning". Watch Maud with amusement. For once she is no longer on Council, Vienna will never operate this way again. She is the end of an era.

I urge you all to click on the link above to the Tysons Land Use Task Force. Interesting to note is that their "leaders" really do it right. They have a professional mission statement, and don't resort to Maud Bully Tactics in their actions. And their task force involves "residents."
From the Tysons site:
The mission (PDF) of the task force is to gather community input and recommend updates to the Tysons Comprehensive Plan. The task force is a 36-member group representing residents, businesses, major employers, and community and civic organizations. The task force and the county are working together with the community to create a collective vision for a positive and exciting future for Tysons Corner.
Note the words: "working together." These are words that I would never ever see written to describe the behavior of the Town of Vienna.
We deserve better.
There was an attempt to do something like this in Vienna with the Maple Avenue Vision Committee, and what happened to it. Maud shot it down.
She's probably using her copies of the Maple Avenue Vision Statement as litter box filler for all her cats and raccoons.
