The Town Green Is One Hungry Dollar Pig

From the Connection this week comes this excerpt:

"This year, there has been a focus on the town green and town beautification," she said, underlining that staff and council have requested a review of possible increases to programming funds of Vienna's Parks and Recreation Department to manage and implement activities at the new multi-million dollar town green, slated to open on May 12. Town staff members are looking to form more partnerships with local businesses and community organizations to offset those increases as much as possible, according to Cathy Salgado, director of Vienna's Department of Parks and Recreation.

Sidewalks? No.

Roads? No.

Water savings? No.

It's Town Green time people. Open up your wallet and give the Garden Club your money. They do after all need to finish construction of their bike path bath house. This spending on a tiny, no functionality park, is a joke.

Utterly laughable.

Hey Cathy $algado, how about passing the garden club offering tray at VPC services every Sunday morning to pay for Seeman and Cole's new church lawn? Or get Steve Bukont to kickback a few million... let's see how much a player he is. I wondered about the poor way you manage Town capital improvement projects, but now we can see that you are part and parcel to this garden club culture in Town government that is siphoning off our tax dollars for your own self-fulfilling interests while basic Town services go wanting... "Let the police work in the basement... I want my teeny tiny Tivoli!"... pavers and landscaping for the Town Green... cheap, jumbling, crumbling, nasty-looking, black asphalt paths for our neighborhoods! I'm sure we could get a parks & rec college grad to do your job better for much less than your $145k salary!

ATTENTION VIENNA BUSINESSES: Don't give one penny to the Town to waste on the Town Green nonsense! Instead, invest in your own business so we can all benefit. I will gladly boycott any business that contributes to the garden club culture in Vienna Town government... expect your business to be listed somewhere. DO NOT ENCOURAGE MORE WASTE! Reminds me of those shmucks that paid to have their name engraved on a sidewalk brick. Where's your brick now, fool? Meanwhile, Maud was squirreling away MILLIONS OF DOLLARS for her next pet project... the Town Green Money Pit! And here again comes Cathy $algado trolling for more garden club funding!

VOTE to dismantle the garden club Town government, VIENNA!

Every time I think about The Maud Robinson Town Green my blood pressure goes up!

The Town Council put that damn town green before the safety of our children and everyone else in the community who needs a sidewalk.

I can't let my daughter walk to and from school even though it's just down the street -- and forget about her walking to the playground or her friends house.

Maud, we won't be walking to your new Town Green, either. So just where will we park?

>>So just where will we park?

In the VPC church lot, of course.

My blood boils, too, thinking about our sidewalks in NW Vienna (re: nonexistent) and that wasteful town green.

After driving down Center Street today and seeing the new sidewalks going in, my blood started to boil even more. They now will have sidewalks on BOTH sides of Center street (right near Town Hall). Isn't that peachy - they don't have to cross the road anymore. I can barely find sidewalks near me - whole blocks of Knoll, Windover, Orchard, Wilmar, West don't have sidewalks on even ONE side of the street.

I guess Maud had to build sidewalks where people see them the most so it will look like they're doing something.

I'm surprised Maude hasn't named the town green yet. I guarantee that the whole reason she pushed this ridiculous boondoggle was to create a monument to her late husband Charles Robinson.
