Sewage Wins!

From the Vienna Town Council 06/19/2006 Agenda:

12. Authorization for the emergency purchase of two (2) sewer ejector pumps from gunnell & sons, inc. In an estimated amount of $20,475.00 For the police station, and authorization to expend approved fiscal year 2005-2006 budgeted funds.

We spend $20,000 to push the poop up from the basement of the current Police Station, but we spend only $10,000 to study the entire corridor of Maple Avenue for a makeover? We are sure there was a plumbing emergency that required the the pumps in the Police Station, no problem there.

However, for the expenditure of pumps to dwarf the entire planning/expenditure process for all of our commercial district on Maple Avenue, is asinine. It shows 100% incompetence on the part of Jane Seeman and Maud Robinson.

How dare you talk about the police officers of Vienna like this. You do not want them to have working toilets let alone indoor plumbing. Do you want them to muck around in raw sewage? You hate the Vienna police.

mommy's note: Did you notice my excellent use of the "Chewbacca defense." I bet you all completely forgot about the measly amount of money spent to study revitalizing a mile long commercial corridor.

I'd like to know why they needed ejector pumps after the fact that the building was designed and built? Who did the building engineering? Who did the plumbing? Who approved the plumbing and issued occupancy permits? Why aren't they paying for the emergency crap in the basement? Why doesn't the Town hold its contractors liable for their work product? Stop defending the historic district and start defending our tax dollars! Get Sagres Construction to replace all of the concrete they have installed that is cracking up all over the place... quit hiring those clowns... just who's cousin runs that company, anyway?

The same night they also approved $38,000 to Whitman Requardt & Associates LLP to provide engineering services on an as needed basis.
$29,000 to the same group for engineering & design services for improvements of Fredrick & Nutley St. water booster pumping station.
$60,000 to purchase sensus water meters.
$119,704 for the architectural/engineering services for an assessment of work space needed and associated design services for the Police HQ. (Which has already been a post on this website).
$20,000 request authorization to ride Commonwealth of Va Contract 9626902-60 with Abacus Corp for temporary employment services.
