Condo Debate Off Track
The condo debate on this web site seems to have gotten into some weird sidetracks. Some thoughts:
1. There should be no condos in the middle of residentially zoned areas.
2. Condos should be considered or not considered only in commercial and transitional areas.
If we all keep the debate in these confines there will be more productive conversations about the topic.

Why must a community of single-family homes be subjected to infusion of multi-family development?
Why is this an issue?
And why would you want to re-zone a commercial area to allow residential?
Commercial or transitional...makes no difference, unless someone owns property in those areas and is hoping for a change.

Vienna is not only a community of single family homes. It has a commercial corridor and office parks throughout. It is a mix.
The idea of condos in Vienna was all a part of the Maple Avenue Vision Committee. First floor retail and then floors of condos above in commercially zoned areas. This has nothing to do with residential neighborhoods. That said, residential land that touches commercial land has been viewed differently in Vienna for decades - nothing new there.
But the notion of condo/apartments springing up in the middle of single family houses is not on anyone's agenda that we are aware of...except maybe Bukont's.

It's that "...residential land that touches commercial land..." that concerns me.
Thank you for the response though.
