Town of Vienna Muscle to Suppress Opposition
This is an interesting letter (PDF). It is the second page of a letter sent to residents of Windover Heights for the annual "Walk on the Hill Fake History Jamboree" put on every year by Historic Vienna, Inc. (Town funded club). This year we note the interesting highlighted section aiming to suppress political speech. For 30 years this dilly dally affair has attracted every politician in the area (Tom Davis is always there) and political signs are the norm. Now, this year, with opposition to the Maud Machine in place, Historic Vienna, Inc. on tax payer funded letterhead wants to eliminate politics. Yeah, that's gonna happen. Not.
Nice try Laine! We bet there is NO record as to WHO these mystery residents are who made the request. Maybe we will all be lucky enough to have some goons there assaulting camera men again.

Comments
This isn't just Laine Hyde. This is FOUR other residents of the Windover Heights neighborhood who are (in)directly trying to stop Susan Stich from being seen (who also happens to live in the neighborhood) and help Fraud Robinson get re-elected.
Nice try, Louise Davidson, Sue Allard, Marty Havercamp, and Daill Hyde.

So, as a homeowner, you have to get your yard ready (which may take weeks), clean the streets & take down political signs.
And, what do all these garden ladies, do? Nail up those paper plate "welcome" signs that morning and serve crappy cookies & punch? PHEW - I'm pooped, ladies.
I have never ONCE seen a fleet of women picking up dozens of bags of garbage the day of the walk. This neighborhood is well taken care of - maybe the best - in Vienna.

I'm sure they are concerned about Brehony doing something catchy as well. Yikes stop letting these people be allowed to choose!

This is too funny. For 30 years this has been a launching pad for the Town Council - I mean the Robinson Family. Election is two days after. Purposefully. They all walk around with name tags on.

I say you do and say whatever you want. It's still a free country.

Sue Allard, one of the signatories on that letter, actually chained herself to a tree years back in the historic district. She did not want a new house across the street from her, so she went onto her neighbor's property, attached herself to a tree and stopped construction. There is a police report on the episode that the Town has refused to release. That ladies and gentleman is Maud Robinson style politics.

Where was Sue Allard when other trees in Vienna were torn down? Is there a criteria for trees too?
Posted by: silly really | April 3, 2007 07:30 PM
HV, you forgot to mention that Allard’s antics cost a long time Vienna family their dream home and hundreds of thousand of dollars. That action epitomizes Maud’s politics. I do agree no more Maudite politics on the Walk on the Hill.

Co-Chair Joan Lillis and Chuck Anderson are you going to support removal of politics from the Walk on the Hill? Chuck remember when you came in your Boy Scout uniform along with a scout to the Town Council meeting opposing the construction of the house next door to the Lillis'? Chuck, you and Frank Lillis with blessing of Co chairman Joan Lillis tried to stop the construction of the house next door to the Lillis'. Chuck you said the house was too massive. You said the house was inappropriate for the neighborhood, but you supported the massive construction of Green hedges School. I see the scouts are going to help with the Walk on the Hill. Will you be teaching the scouts how to earn a merit badge on how to violate property rights? You would be a great mentor. Yes, I agree no more politics for the Walk on the Hill. Congratulation Chuck, I see you are now on the Windover Board. Maud has now empowered you to continue to abuse citizens as you see fit. Yes, I support a ban of Maud’s politics in my neighborhood.

Why did Allard not chain herself to the TREES in Louise Davidson's backyard before she CLEAR CUT THEM?
Posted by: lewistreetneighbor | April 3, 2007 09:12 PM
I thought the Walk on the Hill was more about viewing people’s landscaping than seeing the homes.
I have to disagree with Tractor Man. If you have this event close to elections you can't tell candidates not to be there or for the neighbors to pull in their signs. It's a free country. If they don't want it to be political then change the date to the weekend following the elections. What is so magical about that particular weekend?

Who are they fooling? There exists, perhaps, hundreds if not more, pictures of all these councilpersons running around "politic-ing" on the walk on the hill day, and has anyone complained before? I want a FOIA on the "It has been suggested by a number of residents" who?
I'll save you the dime:
Jane Lillis, in a word a busybody.
Laine Hyde, in a word, a fool.
Chuck Anderson, in a word, a socialist.
Tom Stevens, in a word, a bully.
If you think I am being harsh with these words, just visit the council meetings once in an while and see these people in action.
What is this town coming to when this type of propaganda gets sent to you on tax payers expense?
We need political reform and we need it now.
VOTE THESE PEOPLE OUT

"I have to disagree with Tractor Man. If you have this event close to elections you can't tell candidates not to be there or for the neighbors to pull in their signs. It's a free country...."
Frank, Tractor Man didn't set the date. Tractor Man doesn't put on the show. That's the Garden Club that does that. And to disagree with that means you disagree with Maud and that puts you in a dangerous area.

What is magical about the date is what I said in an earlier post. This date was set for the Maudites to campaign only. In a dictatorship competition is a bad thing.

Charlie Robinson was elected in 1976. Ayr Hill garden club run by Mrs. Charlie Robinson set up the Walk on the Hill several days before the election 30 years ago. Coincidence?
Posted by: oh my | April 4, 2007 09:17 AM
Frank, I am I am NOT opposed to any campaigning during the Walk on the Hill. I am opposed to Maud and her co chairs trying to restrict freedom of speech during the Walk. MAUD and her co chairs requested no signs. Maud feels it would be better if she could only do her whisper campaign. She wants no competition. I am still opposed to Maudite politics as outlined above.

I hope the new rules for the Walk on the Hill will not stop Marty Havercamp’s campaign to allow free standing Carports in residential front yards.

Louise Davidson did clear cut all the trees in her backyard. I thought you guys were making things up again.

I see that Maud signs are up in appropriate puppet places around Windover. I hope that these people will take them down for the "Walk."

From Chuck Brewer's email today:
Town Council Elections May 1:Exercise your voting rights and responsibilities. Help increase the historically dismal percentage of Vienna voters who decide who leads our Town into the future! Note that four of the candidates for the three open seats are MWHCA members!
