From Police reports:
Town Green, Maple Ave., E. & Mill St., N.E. 1:22 p.m. June 8: Nathan Wolfberg, 19, 1833 Toyon Way, Vienna, was charged with trespassing when he was observed skateboarding on the Town Green after being banned from the property..

Dramatization of Maud's Perfect World: Youth in Prison

Comments
Instead of an arrest, he should have gotten a prize: 100th person to step foot on the Town Green!

The real problem here is that young Nathan is NOT a town resident. And, we know how Maud feels about those pesky non-residents.
Calling all skaters: come visit HV.com, I'd love to know your thoughts on the new $10M town green but no skate park in the near future. Sorry, no funds kiddos. You heard Maud at the NEVCA debate - oh, wait - barely no one under 75 was actually at that debate.

Skateboard parents need to become more involved as well as they are the voice for these children. Orders have been given and they are followed through by the police.

There is no money to bury power lines but there is always money for the Three Flags Theme Park.

This Town is run by sad old people along with a handful of young people who kiss their a** for their table scraps of power. Pathetic.

Once again HV is throwing the baby out with the abth water! this wasn't some child kicked out of the Town Green. It was a 19 year old ADULT! If you have seen the way some of these people ride bikes and skateboard with no attention to otherss sometimes it is not a suprise he was cited -- he had previously rec'd a warning.

Come on I agree that this is more of an adult situation, but I will bet it is going to happen to the younger ones as well. They are the ones that are getting padded down by the police. But honestly who do you think he was running into at the Town Green? I guess it could be George Lovelace?!
Posted by: scary | June 12, 2007 05:22 PM
Everything on this site is made up. All of the video, letters and audio were created just to make Maud look bad. Sorry.
PS. Rhoda Stevens was made up too.

One of those 19 year old kids who can get arrested for skate boarding, go to war but still not buy a beer at the Vienna Inn.
Posted by: vienna mommy | June 12, 2007 07:04 PM
Aw come on HV you slice these videos and audios together, just because you want to be mean!~sarcasm off~
Posted by: silly really | June 12, 2007 07:39 PM
When it happens to a child I will share your outrage! But it is now diluted by this blatant attempt to manipulate a situation.
I have stated on this forum previously - Not all that happens in Vienna is bad, and showcasing it that way loses the edge when something really serious does happen.
Why so much empathy about the election? - because all people have heard from this site is moral outrage and indignation about EVERYTHING.
The boy who cried wolf should be a lesson.

If Mother Maud & Jane liked to skateboard, we'd have a public ramp sitting on that Town Green.
Posted by: hmmm ... | June 13, 2007 08:13 AM
I agree that we have all seen skateboarders hogging the sidewalks at times, but the fact still stands, that when it comes to this town, which is very anti-family, little or no attention is paid to walkable sidewalks, little or no attention is paid to safe roads in our neighborhoods, no attention paid to controlling cut-through traffic (unless you live along the Country Club), little attention paid to anyone with needs unless you are a member of the chosen Maud Squad... etc., so EXCUSE US, if we happen to think the worse about this incident involving the arrest of a skate-boarder. Forget about the small town feel...It's Maud's way or the highway. Why do you think this site gets so much traffic? Because Maud's a nice person? Not on your a$$.

I'm surprised the police were actually there to arrest that 19 year old. you should stake out South Side Park, because I have seen and taped police sitting in the parking lot side by side talking to each other for over an hour (the longest amount of time) about seven times I have witnessed this. Maybe Vienna police would actually catch one of the bank robberies if they were working their beat as opposed to sitting around. Maybe the TC doesn't want to stress the officers out?

Why so much empathy about the election?
I think you mean apathy.
Bottom line is, there are signs that say "no skateboarding." Sounds like dude skateboarded, got popped, and then did again, at least once. He's a big boy, he knew the consequences of his actions. It is what it is.
I have a hard time following something here, though: elsewhere, I have seen a couple/few times the suggestion that Maud is (among other things) out to screw the cops. Yet in this instance, at least, you seem to be suggesting that they're in fact part of the evil fourth reich a.k.a. "The Maud Squad." What the dilio? I don't think you can have both at once, can you?
P.S. vienna mommy: I'm a town resident, and I've gotten at least a couple/few citations from the Vienna Police through the years (speeding, an accident (and I think it was with a non-resident, in fact), etc.). In fact, I think you were there the night I got hauled off by the Vienna po-po on our graduation night ... (although I think they eventually forgave that youthful mouthy indiscretion as a byproduct of graduation relief; in retrospect, yeah, I was a mouthy, annoying little prick that night, for sure). So I'm not so sure this had anything to do with place of residence. I think he was just doing something that he was told six ways from Sunday not to do.
There are enough real problems to take issue with that you don't really need to go batsh*t on this one, right? Or maybe not. *** shrugs ***

No knocks against the Police, but they are regularly used for the Garden Club's bidding. Stationed by Maud at historic review meetings to settle political scores, stopping pictures at Freeman Store, etc. We are sure that they are not happy when little old lady politicians pull them from here to there treating them like security guards. Anyone defending Maud Robinson below the age of 40 is either ill or ultimately a $$$ dollar beneficiary from some association with Vienna government.

Like speed traps mid-morning on routes leading to the Vienna Town election. Good show for all the senior citizens creeping in at 20mph to vote.
The police issues/knocks on this website also relate to the poor planning of the new police headquarters by Town Council... the issues are poor planning.

What bothers me most about this is that we have real crime in this town, yet Maud and Jane use our police force like their personal goon squad. To me it's the equivalent of calling 911 about sore throat, and diverting the rescue squad from helping a heart attack victim.

No one is using the town green (I ride by 10x per day) and kids have no where to go. We get kids trying to skateboard wherever because 85 year-olds are doing whatever with OUR money.
I'd rather have dumped a couple million into a skatepark at Glyndon - my two little boys would have loved going there to visit over watching grass grow on the Town Green.
And lastly, don't tell me Maud won't have police all over teens if they tried to congregate at the Town Green. Perhaps, we should get some motivated teens to make the TG their place to hang (no skateboarding, of course).
Posted by: vienna mommy | June 14, 2007 02:45 PM
If she had any of her own,
She'd know to make this Town their home...
A place to gather and hang
Is not the Wolftrap Motel in an [gang] gang.
The Town Council is in the Dark
As to what it takes for a Children's Park.
We will have to tow the Line
Until they're in one made of Pine...
When those who are old and sly like a Fox
Then will find a way to "Think Outside the Box"
As me for...
I'll be
In Kapolei

I can't believe someone else has the idea of a skate park at Glyndon. We could get the kids off the dangerous streets and skating in a safe environment. Let's not waste time on being critical and get moving to get real action done on installing a skate park. I know the merchants of Vienna would sign a petition to get one!
Posted by: jamom | June 17, 2007 07:12 AM
I agree jamom these kids are having to go to Fairfax and other areas where they are welcomed. I for one would rather have my kids close to home. But they have no voice, and so it is up to us as parents to fight for their rights. I think it would be great for them to have a sense of community and to help with the petition, design and implementation of a skate board park. What a great way to keep our adolescents connected!

I just read in the Sun Gazette that the town council got a briefing on June 11 from the Parks and Rec Director on where to put a skate park in town. Why not give credit where credit is due instead of trying to claim the idea as your own?
Posted by: Sk8tr | June 25, 2007 10:19 PM
The idea of a skate park is the TOV's because Brian Trompeter wrote it in the Sun Gazette?
Posted by: Historic Vienna | June 25, 2007 11:02 PM
June 11: Town's park and rec director briefs the council on where to put a skate park.
June 14: vienna mommy says she wants a skate park, acts like its her personal idea
June 17: jamom and Susan Stich say me too (jamom says that she's amazed that someone else shares her great idea that she already had all by herself)
Is your argument that June 14 and June 17 came before June 11?
What next, you going to say that the town should buy some trucks and put big shovels on the front and use them to push the snow off the streets next winter instead of leaving it there till it melts?
Posted by: Sk8tr | June 26, 2007 04:43 PM
You are serious? People in this community have been pushing for this for YEARS. And now the Council floats the idea of "studying" it...and you have a party? Go away Maud.
Posted by: Historic Vienna | June 26, 2007 05:36 PM
Whatever you say, Roy Pearson.
Posted by: Sk8tr | June 26, 2007 11:30 PM
Sk8tr it must be difficult to be the son, daughter, family member, friend, or associate of a Town Council member and have to see on this site how inept they are. The need to irrationally fight back must be strong.
Posted by: Town Dweller | June 27, 2007 07:52 AM
If people really want a skate board park, they can pay for it. Just send your donation to the Town and when you have sent enough money, then you can have the park. I don't owe anyone's kids a park. I'm tired of being taxed to oblivion for other people's expenses.
Posted by: Unbelievable | June 28, 2007 05:42 PM
Now unbelievable the idea of collecting donations for a skate park is not that far fetched. When the police station was built there was no storage for the police motorcycles and the building you see there now was built with citizen donations.

June 14: vienna mommy says she wants a skate park, acts like its her personal idea
Oh, I am?! Here is actually one of my personal ideas: stop defending your mommy or daddy. Go be a productive member of society. Get a haircut. Run around the block. Post something that means something.

Mighty big words coming from someone whose whole contribution to society is posting "me too" on [...] anonymous web site!
