The Ticking Timebomb
The worst intersection in Vienna, Lawyers and Church, got closer to death on Friday afternoon as this "fender bender" shows:
Sadly, Maudasaurus won't "fix" this intersection because to fix it sets off a chain reaction of other needed fixes (And of course, this ain't a new problem). Why again is an 85-year old lady running Vienna?
However, to not fix a problem like this takes more than Maud. Take for example Sharon Baum (Vice Chair, Transportation Safety Commission) and Tara Voigt (Chairperson, Transportation Safety Commission). These two busy bodies are so in love with "power" (yes, even the table scraps of a Town board excites some to no end) that they are blinded to the problems with this intersection. They lead studies, hold meetings, talk with people and in the end do nothing. Small town cronyism at its finest.

Let's be grateful that there were no pedestrians present. I think that by the impact this shows a higher rate of speed than 25mph. What exactly are you waiting for Rich, Howard and TC-a death?

WALKING TO THE POST OFFICE AND CROSSING LAWYERS RD. AT CHURCH CAN BE A REAL ADVENTURE. THANKS FOR NOTHING MAUDE AND JANE. ALSO, THANKS FOR THE STUPID BARRICADE ON CHURCH BETWEEN LAWYERS AND PLEASANT ST. IT REALLY "HELPS" REDUCING LAWYERS RD TRAFFIC WISHING TO HEAD FOR OAKTON.

Are Howard and Rich gone?

if only there were some type of professional--like maybe "traffic engineers" who could be hired to use their expertise to design a fix for this intersection. but i guess the town council doesn't believe in expertise.

Hah! We don't need traffic fixes!
This is America! Land of the "Biggest Vehicle has Right of Way" policy!
The traffic in Vienna is insane, to say the least. I have a friend from Italy who told me that the traffic there is better. Italy, people!
We need to bring in some "Transportation Safety Commission" people who are actually concerned about how safe the traffic is. The safety measures being taken by the Town are basically non-existent. These are metal death machines, not three-year-olds on tricycles!
Out of interest, is Maud actually allowed to drive anymore?

Impartial: I saw Maud out driving just a couple of weeks ago.

She thinks all those people she is running over are speed bumps. Just kidding.

BTW, is there any reason why they don't put up a 3-way stop at the corner of Park and Locust Streets (SE). Trying to make a left from Locust onto Park often requires more patience than the typical driver possesses. That crash scene could have just as easily occurred at Park & Locust.
