The Vienna Inn Has Gomer and Goober Working Hard for Its Demise

Tonight at a Vienna Town Council meeting the Vienna Inn and parking garages came up. Nothing new there, Gomer and Goober are set to make sure the Inn comes to an end (and expect them to be sneaky about it as we have been saying all along). Seeman acknowledged that she is in talks with the Inn's owner (and other owners in the vicinity). Keep in the mind the current owner of the Inn doesn't own the land and Seeman & Robinson know that. The next time Seeman spins a yarn about small town this and small town that, perhaps Vienna citizens will think to respond back to her with the word "hypocrite" in a sentence.

Is Queen Jane really stupid enough to try to get rid of the Vienna Inn? Or am I the one who is being stupid by underestimating HER stupidity? Time will tell.

I would love to see the Vienna Inn go away in favor of a proper British style pub or gastropub serving quality British ales and decent wines by the glass. Would be willing to invest in such a thing if I didn't think it would be too difficult in terms of regulatory compliance and local NIMBYism. Or am I overlooking something? Would appreciate any insights on the feasibility of this matter.

I heard Jane try to squelch the rumors before the election regarding the Vienna Inn. Her response was "where would I eat" giggle giggle. Pontific8tor they won "big" in the last election, and therefore they feel they have a mandate. They are now invincible.

Stephen I couldn't agree with you more but I do not think we have to sacrifice one for the other. Why not both? We desperately need a pub like that in Vienna, especially with outdoor seating. What great days and nights we have been having lately, and wouldn't it have been great to be able to go somewhere? The place would be packed. There are enough customers for everyone!

Sorry for being the pessimist, but is this the "spin" being put out now about the Vienna Inn? "None of us really want the Inn anymore - we want a British Pub instead." I didn't realize it was an either/or scenario.

I'm OK with the Vienna Inn, it just happens to be on the location I want near the W&OD trail.

My vision of the Proper Pub is indeed a family oriented one:

In a perfect world, it would be near Metro, the bike path, and with decent parking. However, I'd be happy to try along Maple or Church if I could find the right location, and without too much local town politic hassle.

I've always said the BEST place in town for a pub would be in the building where Vienna Lawnmower is. Those are such huge units with super high ceilings - what a cool build-out could be done there.

I think to focus development on the ONE spot in town where there are successful, thriving businesses is shooting ourselves in the foot. Not to mention losing the VI which is very important to many of us. VI sums up any community spirit we do have - more so than the TG ever could do.

I will say it again - the Marco Polo group is ready to move to build an area which would be perfect for an upscale pub.

Maybe the owner of Vienna Inn sees the handwriting on the wall and that's why he opened the Pizza joint on Church Street. An English pub! Don't you people know that the English don't know squat about food and they only know beer. Beer is not wine!

I would love an English pub in the town of Vienna, especially if it had pool tables and darts somewhere (perhaps an upstairs floor with a bar) and also if it was entirely non-smoking except perhaps an outside area. A little area for music would be great too if there was room. I was just talking about this last week before I happened upon this article. Good luck with finding the right place for your pub!
