"Town Concerned for Injured Spectators"
From the Town of Vienna website:
Town of Vienna officials have expressed their concern for those injured at the Town's July 4th fireworks display. "We are all deeply distressed that what has always been an enjoyable family event ended so disastrously, and we are keeping the injured spectators and their families in our prayers," said Mayor Jane Seeman. "In the weeks and months ahead, the Town Council will be reviewing our July 4th fireworks program with the County Fire Marshal's Office and studying all options concerning its future."

Good grief Jane, why should it take weeks or months to show the good sense to stop hiring that accident-prone fireworks company? I forget--which one is she, Gomer or Goober?

Spectators should obey all ushers or monitors and respect the safety barriers set up to allow the trained operator room to safely do his job. Resist any temptation to get close to the actual firing site. In fact, the best view of the fireworks is from a quarter of a mile or more away.

Thanks for clearing that up, Jane. But you didn't address my previous question--are you "Gomer" or "Goober"? I forgot which one.

While you are at it, Mayor, you might want to review the Town's Halloween parade safety. The police motorcycles and Shriner go-carts racing up and down Maple Avenue just a few feet away from children sitting along the curb is another accident waiting to happen.
