The Town Green Just Keeps Leaking
The Town Green leaks away nonstop onto the sidewalk. Last we checked water was not free. So how much is this irresponsible and purposeful waste of water costing Vienna? Is Maud paying for it with her idle millions?

Note: Why are the flags at the Town Green half-mast on some days and not others? Is this flag silliness as disrespectful as it appears to be?

Comments
Regarding the flags it doesn't appear to be a conspiracy or any disrespect. The govenor is requesting the change.
"In honor of our fallen service members, Governor Kaine has directed that localities should lower to half-staff state and local flags for any Virginia military personnel who is from that locality and who dies while serving in Iraq or Afghanistan. The flag(s) should remain lowered until the day of the memorial service."

Also,
“IN VIRGINIA
This is to order that the flag of the Commonwealth of Virginia is to be flown at half-staff at the State Capitol and throughout Virginia in respect and memory of Civil Rights Attorney Oliver W. Hill. I hereby order that the flags shall be lowered at sunrise on Monday, August 6, 2007, and remain at half-staff until sunset on Sunday, August 12, 2007.”

The Virginia flag is at half staff in respect and memory of Irene Morgan Kirkaldy. Mr.Timothy Kaine said to lower it till Monday, then it should go back to the top.

Do either of you folks with access have any idea why the Town has let that fountain spill onto the sidewalk for months on end 24/7?

I think that ridiculous usually low flying banner needs to go. No one reads it, and juxtaposed with the dead trees, faulty fountain and Weichart sign the banner just gives one more touch of tacky to Maple Ave!

Frank says it's Oliver Hill, and Close says it's Morgan. I've seen that flag as well as the US flag go up and down long before those dates.
