Newark Killings of College Kids Raises Issues for All Communities

Illegal immigrants recently executed three college kids (article) in New Jersey. Question: do we have illegal immigrants in Vienna with comparable rap sheets? Are we doing anything to find out?

These are not partisan questions. They are common sense questions aimed at possibly preventing any such thing from happening in Vienna.

We have [gang], responsible for well over several dozen horrible deaths and murders, and they meet at the Wolftrap Hotel.

Nice.

So this is a "common sense" question? This is possibly the most absurd thing I've ever seen posted by you... why does the fact that some murder in NJ was committed by an illegal alien have anything to do with Vienna?

Unfortunately, multiple murders seem to happen often in this country. For example, some guy in Missouri shot people in a church - see link at: http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/08/13/church.shooting/?iref=mpstoryview

Do we need to investigate the Micronesians too? Are we going to do the same for every other multiple murder that happens in a far away town committed by native-born men, women, white people, black people, Catholics, etc? Maybe we should just check out everybody now?

We've already got one hate group listed by the SPLC in Vienna - let's not add another one. See http://www.splcenter.org/intel/map/hate.jsp?S=VA&m=5

why does the fact that some murder in NJ was committed by an illegal alien have anything to do with Vienna?

NJ has nothing to do with Vienna. The question was simply does Vienna have illegal immigrants with lengthy rap sheets on our streets? The NJ example was a useful example to start a discussion. No one was talking about rounding up illegal immigrants or arresting Catholics, the question was aimed at those illegal immigrants, whatever nationality, that have rap sheets we don't know about it.

Your multiple uses of straw men were nice touches though.

Re: "You're kidding me, right?

The website you mention is also a hate site in and of itself. The fact that you use it bespeaks volumes about how your mind is tainted by feelings that you agree with its blanket painting of anyone and everyone who wants to protect their heritage, including whites, is working under the guise of hate mongering, and in my book, you are the worst type of bigot: you deal in the background and whisper your hate in masked ways.

The SPLC should include itself as a hate group for obvious reasons.

It's not wonder you don't understand the message behind this post, you are too blinded by your own pseudo-repressed bigotry.

Bad enough we have to deal with killers who are born and raised here. I don't need to ones sneaking over the border to come kill in their organized gangs here.

Random violence will always happen in this country (or anywhere else) - bringing in the violent gang element from outside our borders is very frustrating.

You are insane if you think you can equate the likes of the National Policy Institute with the likes of the KKK or many Islamic militant groups.

Also, please define in clear and simple facts why you call "The Fitzgerald Griffin Foundation" a hate group.

My challenge is that you won't be able to.

This hate watch site you refer to states that the Minnesota Bridge collapse was the result of a masterminded conspiracy... just what we need another wacko site to claim they are doing what is best for us simple minded people in Vienna...

http://www.splcenter.org/blog/2007/08/09/minnesota-bridge-collapse-explained-%e2%80%94-sort-of/

So now, according to Swiftboat mastermind and conspiracy-monger par excellence Jerome Corsi (right), last week’s deadly Minneapolis bridge collapse is not the result of years of subpar maintenance or a design flaw on a bridge declared “structurally deficient” in 1990. Absolutely not. A far more sinister cause lies behind the collapse.

Corsi argues on the right-wing WorldNetDaily website that the bridge collapsed because it was being used as part of a North American “SuperCorridor.” The so-called SuperCorridor is just one part of a nefarious, secretive plan by global elites to merge the U.S., Canada and Mexico into a “North American Union” (NAU). Corsi also has written that the NAU may be part of an “executive branch coup d’etat.”

It makes you wonder what else Corsi can blame on the fictitious North American Union. The collapse of the subprime mortgage industry? High oil prices? Global warming?

Nice site, heh?

Sounds like a bunch of moon-bats to me, but if you like reading this trash, you must be of like mind.

Get real.

The original question posed in this post is perfectly legitimate. After all, some of the 9-11 hijackers (who presumably entered the country legally) lived in or near Vienna for a time.

Our proximity to the CIA, to major airports, to the Federal government apparatus in DC, etc., should give us pause to ask such questions--perhaps even to demand answers.

I think this is a legitimate question. Whether the Mayor wants to acknowledge it or not, illegal aliens who have lived or who are living at the Vienna Park apartments have been arrested for:

murder
sexual assault (against children and adults)
assault with a deadly weapon
assault and battery
breaking and entering
domestic assault
drug dealing
kidnapping
grand theft
gang activity
drunk driving
public drunkenness
prostitution

Wow... what an intriguing set of responses. Let's discuss:

Historic Vienna-
You accuse me of setting up a "straw man", but I don't see your point. You say "NJ has nothing to do with Vienna. The question was simply does Vienna have illegal immigrants with lengthy rap sheets on our streets? "... well, I agree that NJ has nothing to do with Vienna, but it seems to me that you're the one who insinuated a link in the first place. You post a link to the NJ story, then follow with "do we have illegal immigrants in Vienna with comparable rap sheets? Are we doing anything to find out?" Why am I not supposed to infer you're making a connection between the two?
Getting back to the main point I was trying to make: why do we need to find out about the illegal immigrants with comparable rap sheets any more than we need to find out about anyone else who's NOT an illegal immigrant with a comparable rap sheet? You've provided no particular reason for singling this group out versus singling out some other group. Instead, you make a blanket statement that it's "common sense". Well, it's clearly so to you but not so to me.

Anonymous-
I quoted the Southern Poverty Law Center report because they're often identified as one of the key sources tracking those groups. That said, they're certainly liberal and many groups dispute their analysis. As long as we're all linking to Wikipedia, I'll point to the write-up there and let the readers decide: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Southern_Poverty_Law_Center
In terms of the Fitzgerald Griffin Foundation, it's difficult to find out a lot about them, but if the Council of Conservative Citizens is singing your praises (see http://www.cofcc.org/info/cofcc_news.php), then you're keeping company with the hate groups in my book. I'm sure you'll disagree... to each his own.

Just another bad website-
I'm utterly baffled by your post. When you say "This hate watch site you refer to states that the Minnesota Bridge collapse was the result of a masterminded conspiracy" and provide the link... did you actually read the link you included in your post? It's a blog post commenting about an article in WorldNetDaily. In what way does that imply the SPLC itself agrees with that article?

SW Vienna Resident-
Any evidence that these crimes are directly tied to illegal immigrants? Is the claim that everyone living in those apartments is illegal? For what it's worth, when I map Vienna reported crimes in the Washington Post local explorer site, those apartments don't show as a hotbed of problems (though I guess this is where the crime happens versus who did it):

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/local-explorer/map.html?scheme=amenities&address=22180&submit.x=22&submit.y=17&sid=1187151652010

Interesting. To you illegal immigrants with lengthy rap sheets are just another GROUP to discriminate against. All groups, whether religious affiliation, gender, race...and now illegal immigrants with lengthy rap sheets...are all the same. Wow.

Re: You're kidding me right?

Your last post is weak at best.

redirecting to wikipedia amd cofcc is what I would expect from a ninny.

That said, you haven't proven a thing in your post, and you are not brining anything of substance to the table.

Being an "illegal" in this country is not a handicap to overcome or a minority group which deserves special protection. Merely sneaking into this country by running across our borders does not make you an instant "victim."

With all other laws in this country, we have a reasonable expectation that they will be enforced and the perpetrator will be punished when caught. Somehow, this point has slipped by everyone.

Historic Vienna-
Let's take this in a different direction. You're asking "what are we doing about this?"... I'm wondering what you'd propose to do about it. Is there a magic list of "illegal immigrants with lengthy rap sheets" living in Vienna? Is there even a way that one could be created? If we did have one, what would you propose we do about it - and who would you propose to do it?

I'd think we'd be interested in preventing crime in Vienna in general, regardless of who perpetrates it. There's been no evidence presented that there's more crime perpetrated by illegal immigrants in Vienna than any other group... and even if there were such evidence, it's not clear how we'd be dealing with them any different than any other known perpetrators of crime.

Anonymous-

And what items of substance are you bringing to the table, besides calling me names? This is the usual thing we get on this blog - anyone who disagrees with the Historic Vienna postings gets called names, not coherent arguments... I wasn't the one who linked to Wikipedia first, that would be your host. And you asked why I might think somebody was a hate group, and I think the COFCC reference is relevant. Do you disagree that COFCC is a hate group?

Three suspected [gang] gang members were arrested in Vienna, Va., Wednesday night after police tracked their activity among Los Angeles, Massachusetts and Virginia for five months.

One of the men is wanted for an [gang]-related slaying in Massachusetts. All three are illegal immigrants from El Salvador. Alexander Dominguez, 24, is accused of shooting Miguel Mendez, 37, outside ahouse in New Bedford, Mass., in October 2004. He is wanted on a Massachusetts warrant and has been traveling with Jorge Alberto Platero Castillo and Jose Zosimo Platero Mercado, two suspected [gang] members from Los Angeles.

They were arrested by U.S. marshals at about 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Vienna apartment where they were staying.

Here's an article that describes a robbery with lethal weapons at Mike's Warehouse, where illegal aliens money launder their work checks. (For those that don't know, the "creek" where the criminals initially hid was behind the Vienna Park apartments.)

From our own police crime report, which unfortunately doesn't list all the crimes in Vienna:

Burglary
800 block DeSale St., S.W.
4:06 p.m. November 11, 2006

Police responded to a house for a report of a burglary. Additionally, police responded to reports of gunshots heard in the neighborhood at the same time. It was determined that a resident of the house fired at least one shot at an individual during this event. At the time of this report, it is not believed anyone was struck by the gunfire; however, detectives are seeking to identify and determine the welfare of a Hispanic male, 20-25 years old, 5'8" tall, medium build, wearing a white collared long-sleeve shirt and dark pants who was seen fleeing the area. Anyone who witnessed this event and has not already been interviewed by a detective is encouraged to contact the Vienna police. Questions or concerns may be directed to Lt. Russ Marsh at 703-255-6398.

Maybe someone needs to ask Lt. Marsh if they ever arrested someone for this, and if they were illegal.

Is there a magic list of "illegal immigrants with lengthy rap sheets" living in Vienna? Is there even a way that one could be created?

With that 'throw the towel in logic', we will agree to disagree. As a side note, maybe we will find out there are [gang] ties to little ole Vienna:

Last week, two [gang] gang members – a Peruvian illegal alien, Jose Carranza – and Rodolfo Godinez, an illegal alien gang-leader from Nicaragua – executed three college bound inner-city American kids in Newark, New Jersey. Before the killings, Carranza, with 31 previous indictments, raped a five year old girl, but enjoyed bail by a lenient judge and a sloppy prosecutor. Godinez too, sported a multi-page rap sheet.

21% of the criminals processed by the PW jails are illegal?! Why are our tax payer monies going to house, clothe & feed illegal criminals?

Illegals in Pr. William face deportation

Prince William County -

More than a dozen illegal immigrants are facing deportation as a new agreement between Prince William County and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is implemented.

County corrections officers have filed paperwork with ICE to initiate deportation reviews for the immigrants, all of whom are serving time in the jail for other crimes at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center — an approach that could eventually involve many more inmates.

A new review of the 15,000 people the jail system processes each year suggests that up to 21 percent, or 3,150, may have been in the country illegally and are subject to the deportation action, Jail Superintendent Skip Land said Wednesday.

That estimate is a huge increase over the 12 percent figure Land had previously cited based on reviews of the jail system’s current population of about 950 inmates.

ICE would not be able to handle such a large flow of immigration cases, it told county officials, noting it has a cap of 40 inmates per month for the Prince William program. If Land’s new statistics are accurate, it suggests that an average 260 inmates per month could be submitted for deportation.

The Prince William County Board of Supervisors approved establishment of the controversial agreement last fall and recently directed its police department to do the same.

“Ultimately, I hope we would be deporting every single [illegal] immigrant who is in the custody of the jail,” Board Chairman Corey Stewart said.

The agreement, called 287-G, already is active in Herndon and is under consideration in Loudoun and Culpeper counties. Critics claim the new system has made illegal residents extremely reluctant to contact police about criminal activity, fearing their status would be checked.

“People are going to stop reporting crimes ,” said Nancy Lyall, a representative with Mexicanos Sin Fronteras, an outreach organization in Prince William County.

Pr. William chair urges Fairfax to get tough on illegal immigration

Dan Genz and William C. Flook, The Examiner

Prince William County -

Prince William County Chairman Corey Stewart is calling on neighboring Fairfax County to take a tougher tack on illegal immigration, saying Virginia’s largest county is letting down the growing number of neighboring counties addressing the issue.

“The only way that we’re going to have any real effect on forcing illegal immigrants out of our community is if we do so on a regional basis,” Stewart said. “We need their cooperation in order to remove illegal immigrants from the region.”

Three Northern Virginia jurisdictions have passed new resolutions addressing illegal immigration since Prince William County’s measure won unanimous passage

July 10, but Fairfax is not among the new contingent that includes Spotsylvania, Culpeper and Loudoun counties.

“Gerry Connolly needs to get off of his behind and join the rest of us tackling illegal immigration in Northern Virginia,” Stewart said. “Fairfax is a real hindrance now. They are real laggards in terms of addressing the problem.”

With continued inaction, he said, the neighboring county is “becoming a sanctuary for illegal immigrants in Northern Virginia.”

Connolly, who is on vacation, could not be reached for comment. Fairfax County spokeswoman Merni Fitzgerald said the county has a policy of focusing “not on someone’s status, but on their behavior in the community.” Part of that policy, she said, is this year’s creation of a strike team to tackle code violations such as overcrowding.

“Immigration is a federal issue; we follow whatever policies the federal government enacts,” she said. “But immigrants have helped shape the identity of Fairfax County. ... Our diversity here is truly our strength.”

Immigrants, however, don’t see Fairfax County as a comparatively attractive place to live, pointing to anti-illegal-immigration laws in the town of Herndon, said Nancy Lyall, with the immigrant outreach organization Mexicanos Sin Fronteras.

“Herndon is in Fairfax County, so it is not viewed as a sanctuary,” Lyall said. “There is no place in the state of Virginia that people think is safe.”

Why the h**l should I have to press #1 for English?

Someone questioned what the NJ murders have to do with Vienna. Just heard the news that one suspect captured in Woodbridge, Va. Getting mighty close. Stay tuned.

why does the fact that some murder in NJ was committed by an illegal alien have anything to do with Vienna?

Here is arrest article.
