The Town Green in All Its Glory (Goo)
Some pictures of the Town Green in all its glory: no people, dead trees galore, water problems, a busted fountain, mildewed sidewalks and flags at half mast (why is that by the way?). Nothing like spending a little money.
NOTE: Northern Virginia is in the middle of a severe drought, but the Town Green can grow algae? You bet!

Don't let Gomer and Goober see these pictures. They will just want to spend twice as much money on their next boondoggle in order to "do it right."

This is awful! A tax base was taken down for this? That water feature is ridiculous. Thank you for raising our water rates for this TC and Jane!

Well maybe it was just as well that Town Council denied the artful bike rack...there might have been something with taste in that TG.

The water that is leaching under the benches and near the trees with electricity causes concern. How much is OUR liability insurance Mr. Polychrones?

Check out the "Vienna Town Green Concept" on the Town web site: http://www.viennava.gov/Town_Departments/TownGreenPlan.pdf It describes the water feature as the "Rotary sponsored Water Feature." Is the Rotary Club responsible for this? How does TC reconcile turning down the bike rack but accepting this? They should cut their (our) losses and bulldoze the site right now.

The Rotary Club originally had the vision and desire to have a beautiful coin fountain. Not only ascetically would this have been more pleasing but the coins would have been used for charity. But the almighty Maud stepped in and did not want coins being thrown into a fountain because it could "mar the brickwork". HA!! This could be laughable if it were not so pathetic. Now look at it...clearly much better Maud! And yes when people stop and look at it "they will know they are someplace." A Town that is being destroyed by incompetence. I also like the cigarette butt in the midst of that sludge.

Will the fountain be running in the winter?

Let's be realistic. The TG disaster should not be laid in the laps of the TC but in the persons who knew what what going down and did nothing about it. The SECRET discussions about the purchase of the building and the pre planning of the Park. It did not happen overnight. The town council chamber was not jammed with protesters and many did not bother to vote.
Once upon a time: The Westwood Country Club was up for sale and three high rise apartment buildings were proposed to be built there. The old town hall was so packed at that hearing that the people were down the hall and out the door for the meeting. You do not see any apartment towers there today. You wouldn't listen to the wisest man in town so you got what the "sheer power" granted to the elected officials allowed them to do for you. As a footnote, there is more to come. You better get involved before it happens.

Wisest it is my understanding that there was a lot of people who did NOT want the Town Green, and did come to the initial meetings to voice their opinion. The super secret vote was taken in favor of the Town Green when there was no one there, and naturally there are no cameras, or honest minutes, or trails.....
I do agree GET INVOLVED!
