Former Vienna Town Council Member Dies; Maud Opines
From the papers:
“Vince was the true soul of this town,” said Vienna Town Council member Maud Robinson. “He was the soul of integrity. He was a good family man. He had something that all the college degrees in the world can't give you: instinctive intelligence and common sense.”

Comments
Good old Maud... an inane and gratuitous disassociation of education from intelligence... she's not happy unless she's tearing something down to make her point.

Maud has such touching words for every occasion. She truly missed her calling writing for Hallmark. Remember when Mr. Olson's house burned earlier this year:
"Vince has a very positive attitude,” said Council member Maud Robinson. “Thank goodness for insurance."

“Fire just happens so quickly, you can't prepare for it,” said Mayor M. Jane Seeman

Maud attended Smith College in Massachusetts.

With respect for Councilman Olson this backhanded statement should never have been repeated. The newspaper should not have printed Maud's crass statement. And, regarding the Mayor's statement that you cannot prepare for a fire is an ill statement. It is on occasions like this that we advise people that they should have an escape route planned, a meeting place for all occupants of the dwelling and fresh batteries in their smoke alarms.
