Jeannemarie Smacks Chap Around Some More

Read (PDF). If Chap has brochures ripping Jeannemarie too, send them along, we have just not seen them.

She must have gotten that playmobile town from Maud and Jane.

I have to say, I will not be voting for JMDD. She's a RINO, and for those of you who are unaware of what this means: Republican In Name Only. Here is a Republican slamming a Democrat for trying to keep spending under control!

Wow! Okay, Davis, why did you vote to raise taxes every time you could, when the State of Virginia had a Tax Surplus of over a billion dollars for the last two years in a row?

Why? Are you sure you are a republican Jeanmarie?

Why is a Democrat acting more fiscally responsible than a republican in Virginia?

It's usually the other way around!!!

Three cheers for Chap!

Jeannemarie's endorsements from firemen, teachers, and other public employee groups all come with a price--a price paid by the taxpayers. Do we know if we are getting our money's worth?

I received a flyer yesterday ripping Jeannemarie but tossed it out.

How is a REAL democrat better than a RINO? What will Chap do for us?

Chapp's never done a thing for anyone, other than support tax increases. He's a good democrat.

>>Chapp's never done a thing for anyone, other than support tax increases. He's a good democrat.

'Chap's bad... Democrats are bad. My party is better than your party... your party wears army boots!'

It's going to be a long, cold, global warming for you, my friend!

JMDD has pushed through and supported excessive moving violation fines and helped to bring back the red light cameras which are unconstitutional and dangerous. We don't need people like this. I cannot stand her smear campain either. She never addresses the real issues.

>>If Chap has brochures ripping Jeannemarie too, send them along, we have just not seen them.

Chap doesn't need to "rip" Jeannemarie... he just tells it like it is. Here's Chap's mail response to Jeannemarie's mud pie lies:

...ON THE ISSUE OF ETHICS

Last week, you received a direct mailing from Senator Devolites-Davis regarding my record on ethics.

The irony is striking. Devolites-Davis is paid $80,000 a year to work "10 hours a week" from home for a Capitol Hill "consulting firm" --ICG Consulting, Inc. --which promises clients access to her husband. That story was documented by the Washington Post last year. The publication of that story and the unseemly relationship it disclosed is a continuing embarrassment to our community. It illustrates the need to close the "lobbyist loophole" which makes a mockery of our ethics laws.

What is my record?

I am an attorney with a small general practice in Fairfax City. My wife is a former attorney and stay-at-home Mom that watches our three kids and her disabled mother. My clients are individuals and local small businesses, usually minority-owned.

Until 2005, I was a lawyer with the national firm of Bracewell Patterson, LLP, which has offices around the U.S. I was a non-equity partner in the Northern Virginia office. My clients were Fairfax County businesses.

Regarding the allegations...

Bracewell had NO lobbying practice in Richmond. There was no conflict of interest, nor any reason for me to abstain on any vote while a State Delegate. The idea that I was disqualified from voting on state laws because my firm represented clients doing business in Virginia is ridiculous. If that were the case, then nobody with a career could serve in the General Assembly (which is a part-time legislature).

The attempt to link me to the policies of Republican corporate contributors like Bechtel is especially pathetic. My old firm did not represent them on any matters in Virginia. Nor did it have any involvement with the "Tysons Tunnel" debacle.

Those Fortune 500 companies contribute to Republicans like my opponent. They don't support Democratic challengers like me.

I have been a lawyer in good standing for fourteen years. During my time in public office, I was never the subject of an ethical inquiry. Nor did I ever use my political position (or my spouse's connections) to obtain outside income; this is what distinguishes me from my opponent.

If you have questions about the attacks on me by Devolites-Davis, review our website at www.thestraightrecord.com. We'll keep it straight.

Chap Petersen
Democratic Candidate for State Senate

>>I cannot stand her smear campain either. She never addresses the real issues.

Agreed! Jeannemarie is more smear than substance. She has shown us that she will go to the end of the rainbow to pursue her political ambitions and to reach that lobbyist pot of gold. Teacher endorsed? Yeah, right, show me a teacher that endorses throwing your family under the school bus... out of the gondola... to marry your mentor... and his little dogs, too! And she wants to talk ethics??? Is that lioness confidence coming from her straw head, her tin heart, or the wizard behind her curtains? The good fairy Caller ID says, "Office of Congressman Tom Davis". So click your votes together, northern Virginia, and remember... there is no place like home!

Chap gets the green vote! The Virginia League of Conservation Voters PAC has endorsed Chap Petersen as the candidate strongly committed to protecting our environment. While the Republicans are busy gutting the EPA and opening up public lands to gross exploitation by mining and timber interests... and wooing the odd gay vote or two, people concerned about protecting our environment for future generations to come are endorsing Chap for State Senate. As if this town green needed another good reason not to vote for Jeannemarie!

Vote for Chap. Just don't complain when he raises taxes and does nothing else that benefits anyone in Vienna.

Can Chap even find Vienna on a map? Oh yeh, he loves the metro, he can probably find his way to the metro station, using a cut through in Vienna.

Interesting article. Like the Washington Post, it seems the only reason 'teachers are endorsing Jeannemarie' is because she is the established incumbant. Otherwise, both the Washington Post and the Fairfax Education Association seem to have no problem with Chap's record. So I wonder why everyone comparing apples to oranges has no problem seeing all apples? What about the orange... the Republican Jeannemarie masquerading as a Democrat now that her district is turning away from her chosen party with its rabid assortment of evangelical regressions? What about issues of personal and public trusts violated... why don't these matter to the special interest groups? Well maybe, just maybe she is the apple of their eye simply because she is married to a carrot, AN ESTABLISHED REGIONAL CONGRESSMAN WHO CAN GREATLY INFLUENCE THEIR AFFAIRS far more than she can from her lonely cubicle in Richmond. Now isn't that special... Jeannemarie makes a pass and gets a pass!

Here is a Washington Post article that explains why you should vote for Chap:

"A Democratic sweep, meanwhile, would transfer unprecedented power to a handful of senior Northern Virginia lawmakers, giving the region a level of influence in Richmond on issues such as transportation, growth and education that would match its population and economic might."

"And it might all hinge on Fairfax, where three Republican state senators are fighting for their political lives in districts that have rejected the GOP in the past two statewide elections and that are now, by all accounts, undeniably blue."

"Another advantage for Democratic candidates in Northern Virginia is that the region's clout would vastly increase in Richmond if Democrats take over the Senate. For example, if he survived a tough reelection bid, Sen. Charles J. Colgan (D-Prince William) would become chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, gaining the power to send more money to Northern Virginia colleges and universities, hospitals, roads, cultural institutions and more."

""If we win, Northern Virginia's power is enhanced greatly," said Saslaw, who is likely to become the Senate majority leader if Democrats take over. "If it stays in Republican hands, we end up with zero influence.""

So there you have it. Forget about Jeannemarie's cross party lines song and dance routine... her 140 nameless, meangingless bills that she doesn't even bother to identify... her grand transportation solution for nothern Virginia that amounts to nothing more than Richmond permitting her to tell us to go screw ourselves again... her attack dog Republican handlers' smear tactics where using footnotes is suppose to prove Chap! is evil yet she can't even footnote her own record of accomplishment... forget about all of that!

The big picture is outlined in the above Post article. It's time to oust the good old southern boy Republican control in Richmond that has long screwed nothern Virginia out if its fair share of power and tax dollars. Drive around Virginia and you will see that the roads are just fine everywhere except in northern Viginia... do you really think it would take VDOT over a year! to rebuild 0.8 mile of two-lane road in Richmond? Our token two-party-faced Jeannemarie can't fix this problem... all she can do is act like she has done something special to address transportation in northern Virginia... but she has accomplished nothing! NOTHING!!! Her $400m 'tax yourself some more plan' is just a bone Richmond let her throw hoping to return enough votes.

Don't be fooled, northern Virginia... forget about Jeannemarie's smear and her other worthless "caring" and "delivering"... vote Democratic to fix the long-standing imbalance of power in Richmond and to allow nothern Virginia to breakout and really start solving its problems without hinderance from Richmond and neutered politicians like Jeannemarie.

More to know about Jeannemarie and Tom... these two from the party of so many values have abandoned family, party, and standards of decent conduct in pursuit of their political office... they no longer deserve to represent us. It is no wonder that Jeannemarie has now resigned herself to only seeing shades of grey... she has lost her way and has abandon what principles she might have once had... she has crossed the line in her personal and public life and can now no longer bring herself to acknowledge that these boundaries exist, much less know where they are... Jeannemarie's life has become shades of grey. She can no longer serve herself nor her constituents with necessary conviction. It is time for Jeannemarie to retire from public service and to take stock in her own affairs.

Tom Davis is going to announce tomorrow that he is going to announce after November 6th whether or not he is going to run for the US Senate. Reminds me of that ridiculous presidential campaign Fred Thompson is trying to foist on us, although Fred doesn't have Tom's dependency to consider. There is no light at the end of your political tunnel, Tom. Put a fork in it, you're both done. You can't marry your business partner and keep running the firm unless you like working alone, no matter how lonely public service becomes. Look on the bright side... you'll both get to spend more time with your dogs and make an honest living as lobbyists. And get some fresh air and exercise, Tom, you're looking rather spent.

Well, Tom Davis has decided early not to run for US Senate:

“If you are tied up in the convention, you can’t do the kind of grassroots you ordinarily would do running a campaign in the traditional sense against the Democrat,” said Davis. “Once you tear off the scab of the Republican moderates against conservatives, it’s hard to put it back together again.”

"If you are tied up in the convention, you can’t do the kind of grassroots you ordinarily would do..." Translation: Moderate Tom can't be a RINO in nova and run with the rabid evangelical regressives in a down state convention. Gee whiz that was easy! Tom just says no to hypocrisy... concedes to truth in advertising without a fight. Now, if the Republican Party would put the same squeeze play on Jeannemarie, Renny Martin could save some of her snooty advertorial dollars!

“I’m still raising money. I’m going to a lot of events,” Davis said. “The rumors of my demise are greatly exaggerated.”

You've just been outed by your own party, Tom! They left you with ZERO chance in a senate race. They are writing off nova and you're included, along with all of those democratic voting immigrants they are trying to push north out of Prince William County. Let us know how the money is flowing after your concession speech today... we're not too concerned with how many elementary school PTA events you crash.

"We're at a fork in the road right now, and we're standing still," Davis told journalists gathered in a room at a hotel in downtown Washington yesterday. "You give the Democrats ownership by not showing up and defining our position."

Excuse me, Tom, but your party is not standing still. YOU may be at a fork in your road, and the Republican party may be broken down... but your party long ago forked into a ditch starting with Newt's contract with America, then the impeachment, then the rabid evangelical regressive bigots and hypocrites (just for their votes only, of course), and most recently following Bush twice! over a cliff while allowing his administration to gut and corrupt everything decent and good about our Federal government. The Republicans have showed and defined their position plenty, and you, sir moderate Tom, have stayed comfortably seated because you don't have the personal integrity to take a stand for your political beliefs... too busy taking another man's wife! What's stopping YOU, Tom, from showing and defining YOUR position? When you see that you can't win, you simply quit.

Davis also said his swipes at his party will "probably" help his wife, state Sen. Jeannemarie Devolites Davis (R-Fairfax), who is in a bruising campaign against Democrat J. Chapman Petersen. A win for Devolites Davis in an overwhelmingly Democratic district would send a powerful message to Republicans that Thomas Davis's message of moderation and consensus-building on issues such as gun control and highway funding is the proper model, the couple said.

You two are completely mad! Working, eating, and sleeping together has jellied your brains. Instead of taking a pass while pushing her over the edge with your message of moderation and consensus-building for your party laying heaped at the bottom of the cliff, why don't you stand up and deliver the message yourself, Tom? Run for Senate... go to the convention... present your wise and proper model for Republican moderation and consensus-building... be a leader, Tom. You may not win over the zealots left kicking and screaming in Bush's wake, but you might make a difference... amount to something... you might even fix your loony party.

"Maybe we should be talking to a different set of people," Davis said.

Swell! Come on over, Tom and Jeannemarie, we'd be glad to have you. You'd fit right in since us Democrats see lots of grey. It would sure beat trying to run in all directions at once. And don't forget to call and congratulate Chap!

Such apparent inconsistencies reflect the difficulty of the decision and Davis's habit of "thinking out loud," Devolites Davis said.

You should have just slapped him, not marry him, Jeannemarie! As for the apparent inconsistencies, yes they are, and it's time for us voters to put a stop to it.

State Sen. Jeannemarie Devolites Davis (R-Fairfax) has published the home address, telephone number and family members' names of opponent J. Chapman Petersen (D) in a campaign mail piece -- and Petersen says he is furious about it.

Yeah, that was tacky, Jeannemarie, but I didn't think it was as bad as telling voters that if they vote for Chap!, our schools, libraries, and community centers will be overrun with guns. That's just plain silly and shows how low you'll go for the stupid vote.

And apparently the cops didn't like it:

One effect of the mail piece is that the Virginia Coalition of Police and Deputy Sheriffs is thinking about withdrawing its endorsement of Davis, said Marshall Thielen, a member of that organization.

"They're both good candidates for law enforcement," he said. "But what she's done here is just horrible."

"But...", Jeannemarie "is just horrible"... just in time for Halloween! Think about it... withdrawing an endorsement over the publishing of public information. Something else is in the wind here... maybe they are realizing that they backed a loser... that they jumped their guns to support the easy defacto candidate without really seeing the current big picture... they failed to anticipate just how PISSED OFF voters are with the loony Republican party and their moderate politicians who must now blow in all directions to get elected... a tough blow for you, Jeannemarie.

Your cavalier public defense of your attack campaign (among a few other things) is undermining the one thing that has carried you this far... your squeaky clean image. You will not get this back.

Jeannemarie Devolites said: "I think it's a shame that all the members of the press that are here today do not have the common decency to show a family some privacy during a difficult time." John Devolites declined to comment.

Gee, Jeannemarie, what sort of common decency and privacy did you show Chap!'s family when you circled, arrowed, and mailed their names, home address, and home phone number out to 30,000 strangers along with your campaign's negative attack message intended to incite people? I just don't get you, Jeannemarie.

I don't think this race is much about Republican v. Democrat or vice versa. To me it is more about citizen legislator v. careerist. Jeannemarie is connected to too much "stuff". Time for someone else to get a shot.

I do agree that VA evangelicals have toasted the VA Republican party. Everyone catered to them, and they led the party off a cliff. I always use the Bill Maher filter. Maher is a libertarian more than anything, but I have seen his name come up around some Republicans and they immediately cringe. That's a problem because Maher's view of "get the government out of my pocket book and my bedroom" is probably the view most Americans share (his new documentary).
