Vienna Man Found Guilty of Recruiting Gang Member
From the Sun Gazette:
A 20-year-old Vienna man on Dec. 30 was found guilty in Fairfax County Circuit Court of trying to recruit a juvenile to a new gang forming in town, Vienna police said. The Vienna Police Department was advised in January 2006 that a 14-year-old had been “blessed in,” or initiated, into a local group of the Gangster Disciples criminal street gang.
Vienna police began identifying the gang's leaders and disrupting the group's activities. Police determined that the gang's leader, Vienna resident Kenneth Maurice Wilson, had joined the gang in Trenton, N.J., and began forming the local group in the summer of 2005.
Police identified 10 members and associates of the local gang set, who ranged in age from 13 to about 20 years old, authorities said.
Police identified one gang member who had been initiated while still a juvenile. Authorities then successfully pressed felony charges against Wilson for recruiting a juvenile into a street gang. Wilson will be sentenced on Feb. 8.
Gangster Disciples, which began in Chicago and has spread nationwide, has been linked to mob assault, aggravated assault, robbery and graffiti offenses in Northern Virginia, authorities said.
Vienna police thanked the Northern Virginia Gang Task Force, and especially gang units from the Arlington and Fairfax county police departments, for their assistance in this case.

I know Kenny Wilson. I also know that Detective Sheeran tried to get Kenny with recruiting a gang member before, and that charge was dropped.
And Kenny is a black male, just in case anyone wanted to know...
Unfortunately, the police have this one all wrong. How do I know? Because I know Kenny, Ive known him, talked to him about his past (yes, the NJ gang stuff is real) but he has stopped all that. He got himself back together (he works, he does not do drugs, he stays out of trouble). Also, if you check the media releases on the ToV website, you'll see that Kenny was arrested back in January of 2006.
I cant wait to have the crap slung at me for defending Kenny. PS, Ill ask our Officer of the Year about this one, he and Kenny Wilson are actually on good terms.

People can change but it does not mean you do not own up to your past and accept your punishment accordingly.
Just because you say you changed does not mean you get to erase everything prior to that day.
Being involved at in gang activity at 18-19 and suddenly disavowing it at 20 seems rather "sudden."

OK, here's your crap slung. You are delusional. He's a useless, worthless, punk. Changed or not, he must still pay for his past transgressions. So many people claim religion after they are caught. You are poorly versed in how justice plays out in a court of law as well. "The people" found him guilty; not the police. Black or green or marroon, he's guilty and will have to pay for what he did as justice is blind to color. Grow up and find a new friend unless you want to visit him on the other side of plexiglas.

What is relevant here is that there are gangs and recruitment going on.
