When Maud Passes On...This Is Her Gift to Us
All that is gorgeous about down town Vienna in only 4 pictures. Thanks Maud!
Architectural eyesores as far as one can see, a Town painted mud brown as part of government policy (no joke) and a zoning code so backwards (moronic would be a better description, but we are feeling nice today!) that it actually encourages blight. This is just some of the Maud's legacy.

It reminds me of what a small shop owner in town used to call Vienna: "The Parking Lot."
Those of us who live here forget that when you drive down Maple Avenue, all you see are huge parking lots on either side of you. For first time visitors, it is very apparent.
Let us build taller builders, less asphalt and more green space. My generation is demanding eco-friendly living and Vienna most definitely is NOT.

I visited one of Maud's brown buildings today--the Vienna Community Center--to vote in the Primary. There was quite a long line at 7:30 AM. Apparently, after the Rhoda Stevens incident last year, they are having trouble finding election workers.

I think that's me speeding in Pic 3. Maud must be tall or that's HER vision in the future (from above)

How were we ever ranked 4th in the country? I liked living in Vienna all right (nice neighbors, good activities for the kids, W&OD Trail, Whole Foods), but I used to stay as far away from Maple Avenue as I can. And in essence, that's what downtown Vienna is. Sad and pathetic.
