Another Stabbing at Cedar Lane. Is that News?

From Vienna Citizens Group:
Hi Everyone, Want you to be aware that there was a stabbing at the Cedar Park Shopping Center this morning. This is what we've been able to find out: The Vienna Police reported the first call about the incident at 8:40am this morning, and the Fairfax County Police assisted the Vienna Police with apprehending the assailant, who had fled the scene and ditched the knife somewhere on Patrick St. The Vienna police continued to search this afternoon for the weapon. The victim is in the hospital, and the assailant is in jail. We don't know the names of either yet, or if there was a robbery or gang member involved. Thank goodness our neighborhood schools were put on lock-down during the search for the assailant. However, we are disappointed that there was no reverse 911 call to notify neighborhood residents. Will let you know more as we know it. Thanks, VCG
Now if the stabbing took place behind Magruders...Rip Van Maud might wake up from her daily siesta.

Here's the thing: over the last 6 months, things have gotten REALLY BAD. As the economy tanks and jobs become scarce, things are only going to get worse.
We've been having a couple of stabbings a month at the Cedar Park Shopping center, plus many more assaults and muggings at the center and Vienna Park Apartments.
There's significant property crime and theft in the neighborhoods (Vienna and FFX County) surrounding the Shopping Center and Vienna Park Apartments. Houses and cars are being broken into, leaving many of us with a general sense of unease.
In our Vienna neighborhood, you hear this repeated refrain: I wish I could move. Unfortunately, too many new folks are under water on their mortgages and can't sell, and the older folks need and want to stay here to be close to family and friends.
At some point, safety concerns will overrule any other objections to leaving.

You can blame the Mayor and every member of the TC for doing nothing. This is what you get when you allow a parking lot full of criminals to roam free.

Dear Historic Vienna, Inc:
You may be noticing an increase in house and car break-ins and business robberies on your side of Vienna. Add to that mix, drug deals going down around Mill and Dominion streets, and assailants fleeing into the VPC.
Feel safe? No? Welcome to our world.
Sincerely,
South Vienna Residents
