This Is How The Maud Uses Our Police For Her Own Petty Political Purposes
Know the one way section of Church Street behind the Marco Polo? It is one way because we have an 85-year old Maud who wants it that way. It's not one way for ANY logical, definable reason. And of course it has been that way for some time. Recently, however, Maud has been deploying the Vienna Police to stake out and "catch" people violating the this one way nonsense. Don't you think our Police feel stupid enforcing a petty and silly law that actually limits Town traffic flow when they could be doing much more important work?

Vienna citizen ordered to stand trial by the Maud.

After the Post office was made many years back the road did a dead end behind then, the steak @ Ale. The Windover heights Asso requested that they road be open for their benefit. Which made sense. I don;t know way this old issue is returning to this site. The road decision was made before Seeman or Maude were in office. Not defending them but when the facts are wrong it needs to be addressed.

Nice try, no cigar. That road was closed by Maud's husband and Jane's husband. So you think Maud had no power back in the day? She was just some housewife dipping around Town with not a political bone in her body? And of course the twins themselves voted less than 5 years ago to keep it closed. Any one else got some BS spin they call "facts" to throw on the issue?

Do you believe that once a decision has been made (especially a poor one) that it should not ever be reviewed again?
This area has increased traffic and these items need to keep being revisited until someone does something for that area that makes sense. For both cars and pedestrians.

WHEN THE USPO WAS MOVED TO ITS PRESENT LOCATION FROM CHURCH ST, THIS SECTION OF CHURCH ST WAS BARRICADED IN BOTH DIRECTIONS DUE TO THE RESULTING DUMB INTERSECTION AT LAWYERS RD AND SOME PEOPLE ON WINDOVER THOUGHT, IF OPENED, IT WOULD INCREASE TRAFFIC ON THEIR STREET (GO FIGURE). THE FEW PEOPLE ON PLEASANT ST HAD NO OBJECTIONS AND SAID SO. NEVERTHELESS THE STREET WAS FULLY BARRICADED. SEVERAL YEARS LATER THE ISSUE CAME BEFORE COUNCIL BASED ON REQUESTS FROM THE TOWN BUSINESS COMMITTEE. AGAIN THE WINDOVER FOLKS WERE AGAINST ON THE SAME BASIS AND PLEASANT ST FOLKS ARGUED IN FAVOR. THE STREET WAS OPENED TO ITS PRESENT ONE WAY STATUS ON CONDITION THAT TRAFFIC DID NOT INCREASE ON WINDOVER. THEREAFTER, TRAFFIC COUNTS WERE MADE (AFTER MADISON HIGH OPENED FOR THE SCHOOL YEAR, NATCH) BUT THE RESULTING COUNT NEVER OPENLY CAME BEFORE COUNCIL AND THE PRESENT PARTIAL BARRICADE REMAINS. I GUESS THE COUNT DIDN'T SUPPORT THE WINDOVER FOLKS. IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IF LAWYERS ROAD DRIVERS WISH TO GO TO OAKTON AND COULD GO ON CHURCH TO PLEASANT ST AND THEN TO MAPLE, IT WOULD RELIEVE TRAFFIC SOMEWHAT ON LAWYERS RD AS WELL AS WINDOVER. IN ANY EVERT, THE USE OF BARRICADES FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL ON A PERMANENT BASIS IS SILLY, TO PUT IT MILDLY.
