Joan Lillis Takes Vienna "Walk on the Hill" to New Low

Today was the annual Historic Vienna, Inc. "Walk on the Hill". Historic Vienna, Inc. is of course a Town of Vienna created and run corporation. At the "walk" neighbors put this sign up at each participating yard's entrance:

However, today there was something different, because today historic nut job Loan Lillis posted some "extra" discriminatory language on this sign at her front yard entrance:

For those wondering yes those signs are ultimately paid for with tax payer dollars. Should citizens of Vienna be outraged at Lillis or just feel sorry for her? Unfortunately it is just further evidence that our government has been hijacked by corrupt and petty politicians.

However, the best spectacle of the day was launched by queen historic nut Laine Hyde. Apparently Hyde filed a police report because pictures of her house were taken. Yes, this is the same Laine Hyde who is President of Historic Vienna, Inc. and who also sits on the Town of Vienna Commercial ARB. More to come on Hyde.

This is very embarrassing. Suppose persons named [name on flyer] or [name on flyer] and not related to the town residents visited the walk, what would they think?

"This is very embarrassing..."

Indeed, but no one writes that discriminatory language unless they are a combination of ignorant, petty, arrogant and mentally deranged. Sadly, this is the makeup of many of the losers in charge of the Town of Vienna government.

Another thought? It is laughable at how much time, money and energy that these people spend pumping this small Town BS, this "friendly" Town BS, this happy go lucky Town Green harmony BS, when the reality is that these are the same people who feel so helpless and so small about the criticism that comes their way that their only recourse is to scribble idiotic ramblings on a flyer whose featured phrases are "OPEN" & "WELCOME". In one pen doodle we are all again reminded that this kind of behavior is the same type of behavior employed by the political hacks who fiddled with the 2007 Town of Vienna election.

How can Joan Lillis be embarrassed if she isn't astute enough to understand what an embarrassing situation is? Have you ever heard her speak in front of the Town Council? She makes no sense whatsoever.

We should give her a break, after all she lives in a historic ranch house built in the 60's I think... she's even got historic weeds that were planted when Christopher Columbus stayed in her back yard while looking for fools gold, or FeS2.

....Apparently Hyde filed a police report because pictures of her house were taken.

Weren't there "artists" out there painting houses? The only difference between photo and canvas is the medium.

AH YES! IDIOTIC, SMALL MINDED ACTS PERFORMED BY IDIOTIC, SMALL MINDED PEOPLE WISHING THAT THEY DID, IN FACT, LIVE IN HISTORIC HOMES AND/OR AN AUTHENTIC HISTORIC AREA. REALLY PITIFUL.

I had no idea that Mrs. Lillis had done this until several of our friend's told us. They were amazed, it makes this whole group of people look petty and shallow.

Hey Lainie babe, why was your yard closed? Wasn't this about strolling in each other's gardens?

The Walk on the Hill's time has come and gone. No one was there. And, no, Maud and a few neighbors do not count.

Hey, since this is a public event, can [they] sue for discrimination?

I mean, what if Joan Lillis had written, "no blacks" or "no hispanics" or "no catholics?"

I'm not real happy with the Town opening us up for lawsuits like this.

The worst part is that Maud, Jane, Edythe, George were all there and saw this sign. Obviously, not one of them made Joan Lillis remove it. Way to go town politicians facing a non-challenged reelection.

Nor did Laine Hyde, Daill Hyde, or other representatives of Historic Vienna Inc who were in attendance.

Isn't the rule "take only pictures and leave only footsteps". If anyone is concerned about having their house photographed they need to delve into a town newsletter that informed the citizens that a company was taking pictures from the street of every house in Vienna to be put on the INTERNET. That is beside the sattellite shots by GOOGLE. I think the complaintent had more grips than just being photographed. BTW weren't the police called by Maud at last years Walk OnThe Hill.

What's all this crapola about lawsuits, closed yards, open yards, pictures, paintings, Maud having to pack up the chairs after the band left, police reports, discrimination, embarrassing moments, no more fireworks, etc...

In a word: Vienna.

You could put all this in a movie, and people would think this was all made up fiction. It's amazing that this is what Vienna has to offer, is this as good as it gets?

Did you ever think these elected idiots could ever have an event without someone calling the police, or hitting a person taking pictures, or people yelling or calling names, or having to resort to legal intervention to settle disputes?

When the people running the show are as bad as they can get, and no one stands on principle, you get what you see here, total and unmitigated abuse of power and what is left are morons like Hyde, Lillis, Maud, Seeman, Cole, Damon, & Lovelace running around like the town is their own garden club, and the rest: Kelleher, Polychrones, and Dellinger who are all to weak, afraid, or impotent to do anything about it.

What a way to run a town. I know you all have said this before, but when are we going to get some people with real sense and integrity to bump these pitiful people off their butts?

PS By the way, who in hell would even want to see what's in Hydes or Lillis back yard, let alone most of the so-called "Historic" homes in this so called "Historic District?" what a joke, trying to make yourself seem important by keeping some people out from your yards, like you have some sort of social standing in this town? Get real. Everyone is laughing behind your backs.

It was sad to see un-enlightened children running around trying to distribute "Historic Pamphlets" to the few people who attended this years Stalk, and I have to admit, that what you saw were probably only the residents of windover and maybe a dozen more. Great turnout Maud. Did you happen to notice the flag Haight had in front of his house where the band played? It was the skull and cross-bones... a very fitting flag for Vienna, don't you think? I am reminded of the scene on the Titanic as it was sinking and the band played on... a great legacy for Maud and her Maudettes

I read your page, but I've never posted before just a couple minutes ago. First, thanks for an entertaining page. Wow.

On this sign item, I get it that people have some legitimate differences in opinion about Windover Hts and about the Town and its future direction in general, and that there have been some serious and [shall we say?] lively arguments between Vienna citizens of different factions and between Vienna citizens and various elected and appointed Town people they disagree with it. A lot of it has been unpleasant, from all sides.

But on this item, I would say to this lady that you either open your yard up to the public or you do not open your yard up to the public. The marked up sign excluding two families by name seems extremely childish and not what I expect from an adult. It reminds me of that old Simpson's cartoon (the Stonecutters one) with the "No Homers Club."

And what is it with calling the police about people taking photographs? Gee willikers shazaam. I guess I'd say, please don't waste the police officers' time. They have enough to do. Does the Walk on the Hill have a no photography policy? I never saw that on the flyers, but perhaps I missed it.

I thought I had bad handwriting!

I think I'll just feel sorry for Lillis. What a loser...

A Stich in time saves nine.

This "Yard Open" policy (to exclude a selective few) seems very familiar to the original process in which the Windover Historic District boundary lines were drawn (to exclude minority owned properties).

Nice to see the Lillis' are still hold to the same mantra now as they did in the 1970's.

The sign posted at Lillis' was Town of Vienna property which was defaced. There should be some accountability for this action. I suggest that the Lillis property be denied a town sign next year. If no action is taken by the town then it implies their collusion in the act of defacement.

HEY "YARD OPEN". YOU ARE QUITE RIGHT ABOUT EXCLUSIONS AND THE "70s." I NOTE THAT THE MOST RECENT HAND OUT FOR THE "WALK" INCLUDES THE WEST END CEMETERY, WHICH IS QUITE OLD AND MEANINGFUL TO THE BLACK COMMUNITY. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT IN THE WH HISTORIC DISTRICT. GUESS WHO LIVES NEXT TO IT AND HAD QUITE A BIT TO DO WITH DRAWING THE WH DISTRICT BOUNDARIES? COULD IT BE COUNCILMAN LOVELACE? HMMMMMN!
