"What Power Lines? Where? All We See is Blue Sky" - direct quote from Vienna Town Council and Mayor

A recent post said Vienna needs to bury power lines but HistoricVienna.com wants know how you even see them?! The Maud-controlled party line is that you do not notice power lines because of two reasons: the telephone poles are green and are located on only one side of the street.

The Town, using as little common sense as possible, made a very, very, very, very, very, very STUPID decision when they they decided against burying the power lines with their lame Church Street/Maple Avenue beautification projects in the 1990s. They put us through traffic hell for years, killed a few businesses along the way and we still get to look at those ugly, aging power lines.

If a vote was put up to the people, who would have chosen the town green over burying power lines? If you want to visit a city who gets it right, just drive down Route 7 in the City of Falls Church on any day: bike trail bridge, buried power lines, and beautiful new mixed-use buildings.

I am sure that the business in Vienna would have liked the cables to be buried. Especially the restaurants.

Congratulations Mayor Barletta for the courageous defense of the LEGAL citizens of Hazelton, PA

ATTENTION RIGHT AND LEFT

The mayor of Hazleton, Pa., who drew nationwide attention as well as local support, at right, for his 2006 crackdown on illegal immigration, has been named the state's Mayor of the Year. In honoring Lou Barletta, the Pennsylvania State Mayors Association cited the crackdown and his method of combating crime.

Unfortunately, the Mayor of Vienna will not be bestowed for a similar honor in Virginia. The Mayor lacks the courage and convictions necessary to defend her neighbors or protect her town.

HV, why are Vienna residents paying 2x for water over Fairfax residents?

http://www.fairfaxtimes.com/news/2008/jul/23/water-rates-debated/

This little deal was made along time ago. Fairfax sells water to Falls Church Then Falls Church marks it up and sells it to "Town of Vienna" for a tidy little profit so we are really getting Fairfax water at double the price and since our sewer system is not up to snuff Fairfax will not sell to us directly until we upgrade, but all the money was wisely put into the "Town Green. Now isn't that nice.

Sooo...

How tall are the trees going to grow that were planted under the power lines all along Maple Ave?
