A response from Seaman to Vienna resident:

The letter from Judicial Watch offered suggestions and comments and did not require an answer. Chief of Police Carlisle is meeting with the Cedar Lane Shopping Center management at which time citizens' safety concerns will be discussed. The Town has met with the Center's management previously with satisfactory outcomes. These issues are addressed on a regular basis I suggest that if you need further information about the suggestions offered by Judicial Watch, you contact Chief Carlisle at rcarlisle@viennava.gov or 703-255-6390. M. Jane Seeman, Mayor Town of Vienna, 703-255-6310, mayor@viennava.gov.

The Vienna police spend a significant portion of their time and resources reacting to crime in that area. How about we do something proactive and cost efficient to prevent these problems?

Please call the Vienna Town Council and ask them to set up a police substation located either at the Vienna Park Apartments or Cedar Lane Shopping Center.

Here's how it would work:

The Town would request an apartment from Southern Management, or a small shop front/office at the shopping center from First Washington Realty.

The police at the substation would interact with the community and develop positive relationships and goodwill within the community. Crime prevention materials (gang, substance abuse, domestic abuse, education, and job postings) could be provided at the substation. Perhaps once a week, churches or other social groups could meet at the substation, and hand out clothes or other items to the needy.

The Vienna Town Council needs to take this common sense approach to our growing crime problem in the South Side of Vienna.

Forward the link to Gerry Connolly. I love this "no fixed address" sh&t. Lopez-Canacas should be turned over to ICE.

You know when the near dead blue hairs on Vienna Town Council will do something? When little non-Hispanic Timmy walking home from school gets shanked in the neck and bleeds out on the sidewalk. Maud and Jane will know what to do then!

Take away their liquor license.

Yes, take away the liquor license, then install rubber bumpers all along Park Street on the way to Norm's Beer and Wine. Then the problem goes north and may get more attention.

Vienna government is Southpark.

Can you imagine if the "decent" folks in Vienna took to stabbing each other at various establishments around town? We would all be up in arms. Everyone expects the Cedar Lane crowd to act like this and no one seems to be shocked or care (especially our Town officials).

Is this what cultural tolerance breeds? A bunch of illegal immigrants hanging out in front of shopping centers stabbing each other when they get drunk? What a great lesson for our children!

"You see, kiddies, this isn't bad, just different. We call this 'diversity' and it enriches all of our lives. God bless cultural awareness."

Cultrilly we diffrant. Stabin es cleene phun! U peeps racialist!

You should know a little about racism, since you are a racist.

The people on this site wonder why no one takes them seriously. That is why.

Certain people in SE need to learn that kissing the collective asses of the mayor, her family and town council does not make you decent. It makes you a really, really lame.

No business relationships are worth your soul.

The following comments were posted by a Vienna resident at another Vienna website:

"Thank you for your efforts to make the Cedar Lane Shopping center safe. I was walking into CVS at 10:00 last Saturday night and a man was urinating in the planter located in the parking lot. I'm tired of not feeling safe and for the lack of respect that is shown to long time Vienna residents".

Vienna citizens not feeling safe in thier own community. Quite the commentary on Vienna's "head-in-the-sand" elected officials.

Using sarcasm to mock the blatant racism of Vienna Town officials does not equal racism. Racism in Vienna is alive and well...from the way illegals are handled in Vienna to the white/black line drawing of their farcical historic district to the use of HUD funds to plant flowers on the Town Green to almost non-existent African-American population in Vienna. So, yes, there is racism in Vienna, but it sits in Vienna government.

"Internet" no one on this site is worried about not being listened to. Clearly, people are listening! Unfortunately, the people (Town Council) listening are not very bright and care for nothing except keeping power. If I am supposed to put all intelligence to the side, give up all of my morality, and then kiss the ass of some inept politician...well no thank you. You do that well enough already. If you can live with yourself, fine. But I don't care to get my nose as brown as yours.
