Guess What? The People Who Run Vienna Ain't Happy People

Positive ideas are not what Vienna leaders want.

What do Vienna leaders want? Fantasy Island is their choice. Maud's fictionalized Mayberry. This might be their best propaganda yet. You want to laugh, cry and cuss these fools out all at the same time. Consider this fine piece of la la la writing from the Maud Machine:

"The Town of Vienna and the Town/Business Liaison Committee are delighted to introduce the new “Vienna Retail Guide,” companion to the popular “Vienna Dining and Lodging Guide.” This new Guide features more than 200 useful, fun and innovative Shops and retail outlets that are located within the Town of Vienna. As you probably know, CNN and Money Magazine recently voted Vienna as one of the top five places to live in America. We couldn’t agree more! Vienna is a wonderful place to live, work, Shop and play. Much has been done over the past decade to enhance the “walkability” of Vienna, making it more pedestrian-friendly. This is ideal both for those who want to stroll leisurely among shops and restaurants, and for those in a hurry who want to get several errands done at once. Either way, this Guide will make your Shopping experience more enjoyable and productive. Keep a copy in your car, purse or shopping bag as a handy reminder of how much we have to offer, or bookmark this online version. We hope you enjoy using this Guide to discover the treasure trove of businesses that make Vienna so unique and wonderful."

Who in Vienna believes any of that garbage? Dishonest and rotten to the core are Vienna politicians. If you spend all of your time saying everything is "perfect", it is not surprising that nothing in Vienna changes. To pen the above text you must have no shame.

I think it's odd that the names of the people on these boards is not listed. If I send an email to contact one of these boards, to whom does it go to?

Actually, this year CNN Money ranked "Hunter Mill, VA" as one of the best places to live. I guess they couldn't include the parts of Vienna that have been inundated with illegal immigrants and crime, so they picked the nice part of town.

New for 2009... name the Vienna retail businesses (listed in the guide) that are no longer around since the town published the guide???

I'll start the contest with an easy one we can all lay at the VTC's feet: SAFEWAY!!!

There's a few more... see how many you can come-up with (hint, Branch St.)

Don't remember the source, but there was recently an article which indicated that the "Town" would not renew the permits for several of the shops at the old Southern States area. This was bad planning to begin with. A few more vacent buildings to view. Welcome to Vienna.

Vienna being voted best 4th is like the slums of Anacostia thinking is was voted best, on account of riding the coat-tails of Washington DC if DC were ever voted best.

If you look at the voting data, it was based on three zip codes, the majority of the land(s) considered in the analysis consisted of the Tysons Corner area, and Vienna is riding on the coat-tails of Tysons Corner attractions, shopping, and benefits. If you took the MAIN zip code out of the analysis data they used to vote and rate, Vienna would never have made it, Brag all you want Jane, but it's obvious you think you make the sun rise, when if fact you're a fool. It's clear that Televised meetings of your council would easily show how truly inept you are, and that's the real reason you all fight, tooth and nail to keep your meetings under-cover.
