I haven't seen much going on except for during their worksessions. I'm hoping their stalling is just because they are waiting till Maud leaves and then they'll start bringing more stuff to the Council and Planning Commission. To me it seems the Planning Commission and the Council have done very little this past year. The planning commission hasn't even met in what appears to be at least 1/3 of their regularly scheduled meetings.
BTW, did anyone attend the new PC-Park and Conservation Zone ordinance hearings? I thought they were just approving the wording of the zone, but the paper last week said that actual park areas were now re-zoned from PR to PC. If this is so, the agenda items they listed were misleading.

The town council misleading...SHOCK! If these meeting would be televised we all would know what was going on. Hey Edith where is the transparency in government?!

Three words: More. Mattress. Stores.

Our street was plowed three times last Monday morning. Does that count as three accomplishments?

Smart Growth: what is the difference between PR & PC? This change was not mentioned in any articles I saw.

Actually, it IS nice to have our street plowed so quickly when it snows. That's something I really do appreciate about living here. They plowed my street twice last monday - at 4:30 am, and then at about 1:00 pm, both of which were appropriate times, with appropriate accumulation.

Is making sure the town's roads get plowed a political accomplishment? The roads have always been plowed in a timely manner during snow since I was a kid (and usually better than the county roads). That's just general maintenance, correct? Not that I don't appreciate it (I do) but it's not exactly setting up a business task force to address soliciting new business into town.
With the Metro officially coming to Tyson's Corner, isn't Vienna going to reap some of the benefits economically? What is Mayor and TC doing?
I'll have to check out the weekly Mayoral address on our cable channel next week to find out what she says. Oh, wait, that doesn't exist, does it?!

"All politics are local" said the late Tip O'Neil. So good snow plowing is a thumbs up. But being just over the line, I feel sorry for you guys in the fall when your leaves just sit in the gutter for weeks waiting for pick up.

The incumbents (VTC members) sure made that Cedar Park shopping center a pleasant place to visit. Actually, there’s no mattress store to go to. So that just leaves Vienna’s finest south of the border restaurant; the El Toro. Nice place to visit if you’re looking to travel to a foreign country but a bit short on dinero.

Your post prompted me to recall an old Russian joke. Grandma is explaining to the little boy how they stood in line for hours to get meat. The little boy asks Grandma, what's meat?

AS TO ACCOMPLISHMENTS, THE TC HAS MANAGED SOME NEGATIVES SUCH AS: TAKING OFF THE TAX ROLES TWO LARGE COMMERCIAL PARCELS (ONE FOR CHURCH PARKING AND ONE FOR THE TOWN GREEN;SAYING "NO" TO ANY TELEVISING OF TOWN MEETINGS EVEN THOUGH THE TAXES FROM THE PHONE COMPANYS, ETC. WOULD COVER IT, BUT ARE SPENT ELSEWHERE; BURYING THE VISION COMMITTEE'S THREE YEAR STUDY OF MAPLE AVE. WHERE A VERY LARGE NUMBER OF THE BUILDINGS DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE PRESENT BUILDING CODES, BUT ARE "GRANDFATHERED IN" AND LITTLE WILL CHANGE WITHOUT SOME FINANCIAL INCENTIVES VIA ZONING CHANGES, ETC.

Ah, but you forgot about the interactive fireworks display and also the wonderful laser show that took place the year after the accident. In the first case I really thought the helicoptor arrival was a novel idea. Remember the song strain: "We did it before and we will do it again".
