Did anyone look into how this is done? It's not that this organization looks around and see's Vienna as a light of shining brilliance. All Vienna had to to was apply for the award, fill out a one page application, and you get the award. That's like say Maud Applying for Vienna Citizen of the Year if all she had to do is fill out an application, and if all the questions are answered and spelled correctly, she gets the award. What a joke.
Write something in the rag paper when we really have something to celebrate; like fixing the water problem we have had for years and years.
click here for application to see what Vienna had to complete to get the award:

The Town Council also approved an estimated $4,471,434 contract with Sagres Construction Corp. for general construction services.
Did the town build something that I somehow missed? Is this just to fix broken doors and repair windows? Repair sidewalks? Fill potholes?
What is this?!

Speaking of reporting, err...reprinting TOV press releases... the parent company of the Sun Gazette is due to be sold next week in U.S. Bankruptcy Count in Delaware. Parent company appears to have shafted everyone it had a financial relationship with over the past 3 years, company's PR stressed it was working with creditors and lenders then suddenly filed for Chapter 11.

What happened to KPMG awards. Last time I GOOGLED KPMG I was shocked at the stories I found.

They've applied for/rec'd this award every year - I'd like to see their audited financial statements published on-line instead.

You will never see accurate reporting in Vienna for two reasons. One, we don't have any good reporters who even know how to report or investigate a story. They can barely write above a third grade writing level on their best day: Brian Trompeter. Second: Who places the ads in the local rags? mostly Real Estate people... and since they have a common goal to keep the dirt of corruption and nepotism out of the news, they will only support lame stories about somebody getting an award or somebodies dog barking late at night.... that goes with the VTC, too. They cannot afford to have bad print typed about them for obvious reasons, and they hand feed to the reporters they know they can afford to control. Pretty nice arrangement if you aren't interested in real news or factual reporting. Yet another reason we will never see televised meetings of our VTC. Nope, Never. I guarantee it.

After screwing everyone for the past several years with biased reporting, and countless lies to creditors, shareholders, and lenders, the Sun Gazette's parent company will soon have a new owner and will go on screwing everyone with biased reporting and countless lies.

Real Money is in Real Estate. And the Sun Gazette's Editor is a licensed Realtor who is out selling when he isn't editing TOV press releases for inclusion in the SG.

You are not a very good inspector general.

Did you ever see a local newspaper that didn't go along with the status quo and City Hall?
Trompeter and McCaffrey are Seeman's and Maudie's pet skanks.

I am sick and damn tired of the TOV Police Department being de facto security guards for the Town's convenience stores that sell alcohol to alcoholics; and then arresting the alcoholics when they are drunk in public or DWI! What a lose-lose for taxpayers and citizens.

Does anyone know the names and addresses of the owner or owners of the Cedar Lane Apartments and Wolftrap Motel?

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
Posted by: The Internet | May 25, 2009 09:15 AM
Agree. TOV convenience stores should hire security guards. And not sell alcohol to alcoholics.

Most "alcoholics" do not wear a special badge to identify themselves as problem drinkers. Many or most are not drunk until *after* they buy the alcohol and consume it.

The sooner the Fairfax County Police Department takes over patrolling the TOV the better for everyone in our Town.
Posted by: Brett | May 26, 2009 01:04 PM
Many who purchase alcohol at TOV convenience stores are intoxicated. If I had my way I would only allow 6-packs of regular beer and regular wine with an alcohol content of 12% or less to be sold. No malt liquor and cheap fortified wine. Who do you think drinks malt liquor and cheap fortified wine anyway?

I am sick and damn tired of the TOV Police Department being de facto security guards for the Town's gas stations that sell gas to speeders; and then ticketing the speeders when they speed! What a lose-lose for taxpayers and citizens.
Bring back Prohibition!

Oh My God...here come another two weirdos down Maple Street who oppose the Robinson - Seeman - Sun Gazette status quo. It's the God-given right of alcoholics to buy alcohol whenever and wherever in the TOV. Just make sure the TOV cops on duty at TOV convenience stores don't notice you are weaving before and after you leave the store.
