Roy Baldwin Says "It's not Garish"; Gee Thanks Roy Boy! Comments (5)
Does anyone else see a problem with a review board having the word 'garish' as their all encompassing guideline to approve or disapprove? Why does Vienna have a divorce attorney like Boy Baldwin on a review board making such idiotic statements? Is it too much to ask that there be OBJECTIVE guidelines so people don't feel like they are at the mercy of political cronies?
Roy can you define exactly what inappropriate is? Or is this all based on how you feel at that "minute and half" moment as you describe it?
We are sure Maud rates that performance by Baldwin at the Vienna Commercial Architectural Review Board a perfect "10"!

Slime Merchant Roy Baldwin Now on Commercial Architectural Review Board Comments (4)

From the Town of Vienna minutes:
It was further moved that Mr. Roy Baldwin be appointed to the Board of Architectural Review as the Attorney Member, to fill the unexpired term of Mrs. Becky Hartley, said term to become effective October 24, 2006 and expire February 5, 2008. It was further moved that David Lamphear be appointed to the Board of Architectural Review.
Isn't that special? Baldwin, a divorce attorney by trade, now will sit on the Vienna Commercial Architectural Review Board deciding what is garish or not. This Board, which includes the political three stooges Laine Hyde, Shirley Damon and Paul Layer, has to be one of the biggest assemblages of cronies Vienna has ever seen. We can't wait to see Baldwin talking about paternity tests in the middle of Laine Hyde debating the color red.
Here are some of Baldwin's skills that he will now apply to the architecture of Vienna businesses (from his website):
* Divorce, of course, but also:
* Premarital agreements
* Separation agreements (also called "property settlement agreements")
* Child support and spousal support proceedings
* Paternity proceedings
* Child custody and visitation proceedings, and
* Family abuse charges
Maybe applicants that appear before Baldwin can get free advice if they are beating their children or if they need a prenuptial agreement. Seriously, what was the zero qualification Baldwin promised to sit on this corrupt board and do Maudite's bidding? Is there some kind of a mandate that Vienna's governmental structure be filled with political creeps and losers?

Roy Baldwin: Worried About Lawsuit Damages Comments (9)
The following email came into one of the Town Council challengers from Roy Baldwin. Baldwin is a divorce attorney, Chairman of the Government Affairs Committee of the Vienna-Tysons Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Town/Business Liaison Committee member. Baldwin, acting like a political novice, just an average Joe with basic questions and obviously no axe to grind, parroted the Maud Machine talking points:
"Dear [Candidate]: I am a resident of the Town of Vienna and plan to vote in the upcoming elections. I have visited your web site, www.22180.com, and have some questions about it and your positions on the issues:
1. What exactly is "HistoricVienna.com Blog", which is listed on your candidate page under "Town Web Sites"?
2. Is it a web site maintained by the Town, or by Historic Vienna, Inc.?
3. If not, who is responsible for it?
4. Who writes it? Did you write any of it?
5. Why have you posted a link to it on your web site?
6. Do you agree with its characterizations of your opponents for Town Council, or with its characterizations of Jane Seeman, George Lovelace, and Maude [sic] Robinson?
7. If not, which ones do you disagree with?
8. What have you done to make your disagreement clear?
9. Are you a party to the lawsuit filed by [Vienna citizen] against the Town to be allowed to remove his properties from the Windover Heights Historic District, and for special damages, court costs, and attorney's fees?
10. What do you stand to gain if his lawsuit succeeds?
11. If you are elected to the Town Council, would you vote to settle the lawsuit by allowing [Vienna citizen] to win?
12. If so, what amount of money would you vote for the Town to pay him and his co-plaintiffs in special damages, court costs, and attorney's fees?
13. What is your connection to [Vienna citizen]?
14. What is your connection to [Vienna citizen]?
15. What is your connection to [Vienna citizen]?
16. Did any of these individuals encourage you to run for Town Council?
17. How much have they contributed to your campaign?
18. If you are elected to the Town Council, how will you vote on the petition filed by [Vienna citizens] to remove their properties from the Windover Heights Historic District?
19. What do you stand to gain if their petition is approved by the Town Council?
I would appreciate receiving your answers to these questions as soon as you are able. Sincerely, Roy J. Baldwin"
Now isn't this a cute example of the Maud Machine's scare tactics in action? Roy Baldwin, who of course has read the lawsuit, is making the case that the lawsuit is a money-making venture. Roy how in the world could the lawsuit be a means to make money in your eyes? We thought a political hack like you would defend the historic district down to the last drop, but you seem to be worried that someone will make money from the suit which of course means you think the Town will lose. Guess what Roy? If the Town is maintaining an unconstitutional law to the detriment of its citizens, and they get zinged for damages in the courtroom, we have to wonder why busy bodies like you did not push the Council to solve the matter before it hit the courts. Roy, go slink back under the rock you crawled out from under, this ain't Divorce Court.

Roy J. Baldwin Should Stick to Divorce Court Comments (8)

Roy Baldwin (left); Laurie Cole's Son with Camera (right)
Roy J. Baldwin is a local attorney specializing in family law and he hates this site something fierce as evidenced by his emails. He also doesn't seem to think much of the intelligence of Vienna citizens (sound familiar?). At tonight's candidate debate Baldwin handed out copies of a lawsuit in an attempt to scare people. We don't doubt that tactic may work for Roy in the short term, but he is going to be looking for cover when that lawsuit exposes his buddies on Town Council. And lastly, since Roy is involved in the Vienna Chamber of Commerce in a leadership capacity, does the Chamber of Commerce endorse his brand of smear politics? Does the Chamber endorse the politics in general of Baldwin?
Note: The video camera to the right was operated by a representative of Laurie Cole. Interesting. Why is Cole taping candidate debates, but keeping Town Council meetings off cable?
