So, when exactly will Vienna be on TV? Comments (3)
From the Sun Gazette:
The Vienna Town Council on Jan. 25 unanimously approved a franchise with CoxCom Inc. that would abandon the town’s currently unused analog cable channel in exchange for $50,000 and a future digital channel.Local governments receive cable television channels and Public, Education and Government (PEG) funds in exchange for granting cable franchises.
Vienna shares Channel 23 with the town of Herndon. Town officials for years have considered broadcasting town-government meetings over the channel, the way Fairfax County and many other localities do.
Vienna resident George Creed, a Realtor and member of the town’s Board of Zoning Appeals, prodded town officials to move forward with community-access broadcasting.
“It’s a great idea,” Creed said. “The only disappointment is, we haven’t activated [the channel] yet. I think it’s high time we do something.”
In return for its onetime cash contribution to the town, CoxCom will be able to fit four or five digital cable channels in the place of the former analog one, said Town Attorney Steven Briglia.

Thank You, Fairfax Public Access. Comments (1)
Maud and Jane will not allow Vienna to have a cable channel so a big thank you to Fairfax Public Access for airing the Halloween Parade.
This will be the 6th consecutive year that Fairfax Public Access will be filming and airing the parade on Channel 10 in Fairfax County, and as always we're really looking forward to it! Source: http://www.viennahalloweenparade.org/

When Will Vienna Get Cable Television? Comments (18)
Every so often, random people announce, while they like reading HistoricVienna.com, everyone who posts on here is crazy. It gets tiring after awhile.
Another town resident tried to start a warm fuzzy blog two years ago which fizzled out quickly since blogs work when the topics are controversial and the debate is heated.
Perhaps, if Mother Maud would let us have a television station, debates could take place in a more personal atmosphere with face to face discussion. Different types of programs could arise that would address many topics in town. But, to this day, not one member of Town Council believes we should have a cable television station.
Who in Northern Virginia is allowed to have a community channel?
